Thank You, Jon. Thank You.

It has come to an end. My sister and I just finished watching Jon Stewart's final episode of The Daily Show. I am just going to lay here and be sad for awhile. When all the correspondents came out on stage to hug him, I lost my shit. OMG, so many old faces too, like Wyatt Cenac, Ed Helms, Mo Rocca, Steve Carell and the Corddry brothers. And ( Read more... )

So Sis and I have been watching The Nightly Show since about September. And I really like it! They do this roundtable debate segment in every episode with their guests and I like the discussion aspect. Everyone is generally funny but also very opinionated and varying opinions at that and I like watching that. Larry does less politicians and more social justice type stuff than Jon did and I like that, just because it's different. I am trying now to be more involved in social issues that don't necessarily touch my life - (or hell some that do, see my disability blog) - so Nightly Show is a good show for me to learn from.

But it's not Jon and it's not The Daily Show. I just can't bring myself to watch someone else helm TDS just yet. Whenever something insane was happening in the world, Sis and I would say, "Let's turn on Jon, he'll tell us the truth." And he always did. I'm just not sure I'm ready to trust anyone else to tell me the truth just yet. I agree with you that I need Jon to get through this next election - I can't believe he left the show while Trump is still in the running!

Even after all these months, I miss The Daily Show like an ache in my heart.

Funny you should mention that. Jon Stewart was on the Daily Show today talking about the first responders on 9/11. It's beyond shameful that Republicans have been playing politics with them.
My daughter was just sitting next to me saying how much she missed Jon. I do like Trevor Noah though and yes I enjoy the Nightly Show also. Watch it frequently. I'm glad these shows are on to balance out all the crazy on the news.

I am sure Trevor Noah is great - Jon hand picked him after all - but it makes me too sad to see someone else behind the desk. :(

LOL, you sent me this comment last night and then I woke up today with a video link email from my sister of the interview. (part of it anyways). He tried to get his previous panel back together of first responders and two were too sick to come and one is dead? That's terrible! And yet politicians still use this bill as a bargaining tool! The hell, Congress?! (I wish I'd known he was gonna be on, I would have watched it!)
