I have a ton of comments in my inbox and I'm so far behind on my Flist that LJ won't let me go back that far - (how come it doesn't let us go back as far as it used to?) - but I'm just trying to take it all one thing at a time, because this has seriously been a bad few weeks around here. Hopefully I'll get around to telling you all about it, but

We have a similar dog problem in my village here, the damn gypsies steal dogs, let them run around dirty, have lots of puppies, get hungry, sick (and infectious) and they eat them when they don't have anything else and they don't find anything to steal (after they drink away all the money they siphon from the state by having 10+ kids that they don't care about).

Thank you, babe. I'm going to do an update later, but Winston is home now and doing fairly well, all things considered.
We have a similar dog problem in my village here,
It's just awful that people mistreat their animals and then let them run loose like that. No wonder these animals are aggressive, if they are so ill treated. I know I should be grateful we don't have worse problems here, like in Detroit where they have packs of wild dogs roaming the streets of the city, but no one should be afraid to go outside of their house for fear of being mauled. As it is right now, my mom is in danger every time she goes out to get into her car and that is NOT acceptable.

I know so many people who have offered us help because they took one second to think about this happening to their own pet and the thought is too much to handle. I can't even imagine a dog going after one of my cats - they wouldn't even understand what was happening to them. Winston is home now, so we are headed in the right direction and I can't thank you enough for all your help and support. It means so much to us.
And I wish your mother healing, physically and emotionally, whatever may come.I think this is the next big step - helping both her and Winston get over their nerves. While Winston was still in the hospital, my mom walked us over a plate of food from her house - three doors down and across the street - and said she saw a loose dog running around the neighborhood just walking over. It was so scary to think about, her out walking with a dog loose like that - thinking about everything that has happened. We are getting her pepper spray to carry with her ( ... )

Too bad you can't force that family to move.
I have a lot going on inside of me about this (obv. not as much as you guys) and can't really get coherent with it right now, but I'm so SO sorry this happened.

IKR? It is beyond reason that people are moving out of our neighborhood because of this one family and yet they get to stay right where they are.

You know, I think I did fairly well the night that it happened - I was in crisis mode and my sister and I always do very well in crisis mode. But the next day was harsh and everything kind of piled up on me (I am also on a new medicine that had started giving me nasty side effects, so it was a rough week all around). But now that Winston is ( ... )

It's funny how, in the moment, people can be all kinds of competent but then fall apart later on. I know that's the way my instinct tends to work; I'm not surprised to hear it about you and your sister.
I saw the video of Winston coming home, and it was adorable.

And yes, you should sue the f**k out of those motherf**ckers. Christ.

Thank you, darling. Mom being in shock was also a scary thing, because her health is so bad to begin with. I can't imagine witnessing something like that happening to any animal, let alone one that I know and love the way Mom loves her boy. Winston is home now and has made good strides, though there may be issues with his digestion because of the internal damage. It's too soon to say for sure.
And yes, you should sue the f**k out of those motherf**ckers. Christ. You better believe it! My sister was reading the comments here and got a smile out of this comment from you and said to say 'thank you'. I'll tell you, straight up, the cost is over 5k at the moment and he'll still have follow ups and medicines and any future problems he'll have because of the internal damage done. I am hoping we get about 7k total from them and also if we can get a stipulation put in that they have to pen in their backyard to meet proper ( ... )

Thank you so much for the kind words. I know you from around the pond a bit, from Shirebound's journal and a few of your fic I have commented on. I mentioned this comment to my sister (baylorsr) and she knew your name immediately as well!
I'm so horrified to read about it. I'm so sorry this happened to your mom. I'm glad she wasn't hurt in the attack, too, but oh my gosh, people who are that irresponsible with their dogs deserve the worst possibleMy mom is not in the best of health and her going into shock the way she did over the whole thing could have really done some damage itself. As it is, all her disorders had major flareups due to the stress of this all. On the upside though, Winston has finally gotten to come home! He still has internal damage and scars, but his health seems to be improving so much more just for being home. Now we are in a fight to keep them from releasing the attacking dog back to its owner (who ( ... )
