Idk, but in this particular instance, the reason I thought the leg-chopping-off might work was because they made a point of showing this shot of the black goopy stuff in the bite area, which makes one think that it is something that can spread outwards like that. (It keeps making me think of something else, in some other movie with a black goopy infection thing, but it is on the edge of my mind and I can't figure out what it is from).
I'm trying to remember what the show's past mythology is. But with Andrea's sister, she was bitten so badly that I think she died from the bite. Though with Jim, it did seem to be like a virus or infection.
It would be like cutting off your arm to try to prevent malaria after being bitten by a mosquito.

That is a really famous story about the Lady in White at the Hollywood sign. If they gave an hour and a half for that famous UFO story, you'd think they could have found more eyewitness accounts to the Hollywood sign than just those kids.
The skeleton one was pretty awesome, but OMG, YES about the dog. I was like,"If your dog won't shut up for that long, maybe he is distressed and you should bring him inside. Duh. Or at the least, bring him in so he doesn't piss off your neighbors." You know how I feel about this - kidnap people, lock them in face-boxes, terrorize humans, whatever, I don't care - but warn me if you are going to kill the dog!

THIS. I was like, "Why the hell aren't you bringing that goggie IN THE HOUSE???" What terrible people they were! It's one thing if you're on a farm or something and the dog lives outside, or it's a working dog. But this is a family with a house on a busy-ass street and that dog belonged inside! When he was talking about putting the wire around the fence to keep it shut I was all, Why isn't he bringing him in the house? Why isn't that puppy living inside?? Why is he leaving him outside to fucking BARK all night?? That's so damn inconsiderate. He didn't deserve that sweet dog. Grrr.
