[Background]
Yuriko has led nothing but a completely normal life, much to her eternal chagrin. After university, she acquired a position as an office lady in some respectable and completely boring Japanese trading corporation, hoping it would give her the opportunity to travel, and immediately began looking for something else when it didn't fill that need. Yuriko had a need for adventure and spontaneity that working 8 hours a day in an office didn't even begin to fill. She found her motorcycle, and with it a dream to quit her job and move to Australia, where her friend owned a bike shop and she could ride on the wide open roads all she wanted.
While riding one day, she ran into Ken Hidaka on his own bike, completely by chance. After a short race, he got ran off the road and she stopped to check if he was alright, having just faceplanted into a field of wildflowers (gentian, of course.) After assuring that he was, in fact, alive and had no life threatening injuries, she introduced herself, geeked like hell over his bike, and proceeded to drag him all over creation--whether he wanted to go or not. (She broke him down though. :D) On the first night, they ended up holed up in a mountain cabin waiting out a storm, and Yuriko proceeded to ingratiate herself, as she does. She confessed to Ken her dissatisfaction with company life, sounding envious of what she thinks is his status as a perfectly ordinary florist, because it probably sounds way more romantic than office lady.
The next day, Yuriko dragged him around some more--to go play tennis, swimming, to a botanical garden where she made him tell her about all the plants, pretty much wherever. When Ken dropped her off at home that night, well...it's pretty well implied that they ended up spending the night together in another way entirely. (Laila and I have already discussed this, and are working under this assumption.)
Yuriko and Ken spent quite a bit of time together over the next while, which culminated in Yuriko telling Ken that her friend in Australia had offered her a job in his bike shop--and her also asking him to go with her, saying that she was certain that if he was with her, everything would be alright. At first, it seemed like he was about to agree, but he suddenly changed his mind and ran off, with Yuriko shouting after him.
During the days Yuriko spent together with Ken, she was shown almost constantly drinking a health drink called Freude, which ironically enough, contained a highly addictive chemical that slowly ate away the muscles and skin whoever consumed it. (Why the guys who developed it thought this was a good marketing strategy is completely beyond me.) Of course, either this drug was completely undetectable or the Japanese don't have the equivalent of the FDA, so Weiss was called on to take the guys out. This brought Ken to the realization that the crap Yuriko was drinking like a fish was slowly killing her, and he ran to her apartment where...she was drinking like a fish, presumably because of Ken ditching her. Yuriko, darling, dear, that usually works better with sake. Unlike a normal person's reaction to their boyfriend bursting in and claiming that their favorite soft drink was poison slowly killing them, Yuriko just seemed to take that in stride and came back with an airline ticket, departure date...tomorrow. WOMAN DOES NOT WASTE TIME. And surprise, she has two. She confesses that she loves Ken, and gives him the second ticket after getting a promise out of him to meet her at the airport.
He never showed. Yuriko boarded the plane, and while moping flipped through her diary (The entry for May 5th is filled with nothing but repetitions of 'stupid Ken' and a little doodle of her punching him in the face. The 6th is talking about his promise to go to Australia with her, with a little cheerful 'YAY!' drawing.) She encounters a gentian bloom pressed in the pages. Realizing that it's from Ken, she smiles as the plane takes off.
The next month would be spent settling herself in Australia, working at her friend's bike shop, and getting over Ken's broken promise--a process she started on the plane, holding that pressed flower.
[Personality]
Yuriko is a playful and carefree girl, wanting desperately to live a life of adventure that being an office worker just can't give her. She's determined to achieve her dream, no matter what it takes--and is willing to drop everything on a whim to do it. (This is especially notable due to the fact that she's Japanese, and society there really doesn't take too well to the idea of quitting one's job, much less quitting on a whim to go to another country with barely any sort of planning whatsoever.) Because of this, she can quite easily come off as flighty--though she'd probably take that as a compliment due to her generally positive outlook. She makes friends easily, due to her natural cheer and spontaneity. She'll show even the most stubborn stranger just as much care as she would to someone she's known for years. She doesn't have to know someone long to get to the point where she feels comfortable enough to tease them, show little signs of affection such as kisses on the cheek or grabbing their hands or spend the night with them in an isolated cabin, or walking around in a loosely-tied robe showing off her rather copious superpowers (if you know what I mean.) That's another thing, she has basically no sense of shame, and she doesn't really think she should have.
To go along with, she can be pretty naive, attaching herself to someone quickly in a deeper connection than just friendship--almost head-spinningly so. She also shows quite a bit of self-absorption and selfishness (for example, asking Ken to drop everything and leave for Australia with her. With like two days notice.) She doesn't plan, she just does, no matter how impractical or impossible, unless said friend of hers offered her a job months ago so she could get visa shenanigans underway just doing would be. Despite this tendency toward incredible shortsightedness, she's also capable of almost surprising sensitivity, picking up on Ken's bad mood rather quickly after they met (for the first time, even) and taking it upon herself to cheer him up--she says on the second day they spent together that he seemed so sad that he was about to die, so she felt like she couldn't leave him alone. Keep in mind she's known him for about 24 hours at this point.
So, in a nutshell: she's a playful, carefree, flirty, surprisingly sensitive, flighty, completely normal young woman.
[Specialties/Abilities] N/A
[Affection] Yuriko is a very friendly person, and will accept basically all affection happily and dish it out in equal measure, so long as you're not a huge creeper about it.
[Fighting] Yuriko is not a fighter. IM me if you have a plot-related idea, but otherwise no fights or mauling for her. If you want to fight with one of my characters, my boys would be the better choice.
[Other Permissions] She's free and clear for telepaths, empaths, etc. I prefer not to be fourth-walled. Other than that, go wild!
