Jan2010: Snow Storm

Jan 24, 2010 10:46

We've only had one day of school this last week and we're hoping that we can get back to it on Monday. Jorge and Hazel are going into town to check out the roads and the BIG SLEDDING HILL. Hopefully he'll take pictures.  We got news that Pinetop got 57 inches of snow and friends Patti and George are still snowed in because they haven't plowed.  And the Pinetop fire department lost one of the roofs over the bays.  Wow.

These are from around the place here. We got between 14-18 inches of snow. Just enough to get into the top of my snow boots.  Click on pictures to enlarge.

Lesson this week:  When putting snowsuits and jackets into the dryer to dry off, use LOW and put only a few in at a time.

Hazel shoveling snow off the front steps on Friday. It was still snowing at the time.

For those of you who know my long front raised garden... There it is, behind the truck. Gives you a sense of the depth of the snow in some places.   This was prior to my getting the backhoe out and plowing the driveway.  Love that backhoe.

Standing in the hay barn looking over into the pasture.

This is one of my water retention ponds in the back of the property.  You may  have seen previous pictures of muddy grandkids playing in this pond.

Gotta throw snowballs. Sleds make good shields.

Look at that pure wicked expression. :)

  New defense strategy.

And of course I made another sledding ramp with the backhoe.  And of course Hazel went sledding.
