And when you gaze long enough into an abyss...

It's so odd.

For some reason I keep thinking of that quote, "He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you."

Nietzsche's "Jenseits von Gut und B(oe)se" (Beyond Good and Evil)

Beyond Good and Evil. Huh.

He was a strange man, Nietzsche. So convinced the world was an evil place. Maybe it is.

Something about that quote though, something about it just makes me want to sit up and think. "The abyss gazes also into you." It's almost beautiful, the phrase, in a twisted sort of fashion.

Somedays I feel as though I've gazed into the abyss. As though I've seen the despair and blackness that can go on forever. And other days I wonder - now that I've gazed into the abyss and seen it's dark and twisted secrets,

Will it ever let me go?

Because even now, I can feel the terror, deep inside, just thinking about the feeling that is, for me, in some way, the abyss. What if I can't just walk away? What if I am to live in despair because the abyss keeps it's own?

Well. That was definately wierd. I'm really not normally that strange. I promise. I just kind of had to get that off my chest...
