Tonight is a blogging night, because...

... we decided that Pappa should put Annika to sleep because she's getting too reliant on nursing to fall asleep. So I had some time to update
bochie's blog. Finally, after 4 months :P

This is why it takes so long to put her to sleep:

After the whole routine of a bath and pajamas and kissing
edvardian and
butchok good night, we read a couple of books in the bedroom with the door shut, then when she gets sleepy she lies down by herself. I'll turn off the lights and play her lullaby CD, and lie down beside her. She nurses for a while, then pulls away and points to her nose.

Bochie: Nowse.
Mamma: Yes, that's your nose. Tulog na, Bochie girl.
B (pointing to her ear): Ears.
M: Yes, ears. Tulog na tayo, dede na.
B: De-deh. (very contentedly nurses again, and just when I think she's half asleep, sits up and points to the door.) Pappa där. (Pappa there).
M: Oo, nasa labas si Pappa. Tatabi siya sa atin mamaya. Tulog na.
B (insistently): Pappa. Track. Neeeeiiiiighhhh.
M: Natutulog na ang toys mo. Good night, horse. Good night, truck. Cuddle up tight! (from this book)
B: Tiiiight!!! (thinks for a while) Ship? Piggy? Chickee?
M: Natutulog na silang lahat. Good night, sheep. Good night, pig. Good night, chicken. Cuddle up tight!
B: Tiiight!!! (short pause) Chibi? Pippi? Tami? Lulu? Chich?
M: Good night care bears, Pippi, Tommy, Annika, Lilo, Stitch, Nani. Cuddle up tight!
B (getting desperate): Mik? Yoos? Tsatsa?
M: Wala nang milk, juice, o tsatsa (food). Tulog na tayo.
B (reflects for a while... then points to her nose): Nowse.

It takes an average of 174 cycles of this conversation, and a lot of nursing, before she gets tired from naming all the toys, people, animals, and body parts she knows and finally goes to sleep. And that is why, ladies and gentlemen, this blog has been so quiet lately. I've been spending most of my evenings getting my chatterbox to fall asleep.

random bits of nonsense, annika bea & mommy stuff
