Classic Who Meta: the dynamic between the Doctor and his companions
Peter Davison has said in interviews that he was unhappy with the combatative dynamic that the Fifth Doctor was written to have with his companion Tegan and that he preferred to have the Doctor/companion to have a closer relationship based on mutual like (paraphrase). Do you enjoy a friction-filled dynamic like that between Tegan and the Fifth Doctor, or that between the Eighth Doctor and Lucie (who started out as a unwilling passenger), or do you prefer for the Doctor and his companion to be BFFs? Where is the line between the two?
