Well, I could see Amy do any of the things RTD companions did. I'm not sure Rory would have ripped open the Tardis to get back (unless it was to get back to Amy) but he would have walked the Earth and probably touched the hand.
Donna would have found a way to rip open the Tardis. I think Donna was devoted to him and wouldn't want to let him get away with sending her away. She'd get back to him and lecture him on what an idiot he was being and probably do a few Bad Wolfy things while she had the power in her. I can see Donna especially rocking the Bad Wolf thing. I'm not sure she would have done well walking the Earth. I think if Donna had to walk the Earth, it would have been very different or she would have found another solution.
I'm not convinced Martha would have ripped open the Tardis. I think Martha would have been too practical and less emotional about it but then I don't see her taking off with Nine either. Martha would have touched the hand if for nothing else, curiosity. Martha was curious and wanted to learn so, yep, she would have wanted to know why it was glowing. Although, I think she was a bit put off with the hand in a jar being toted around the universe.
River would have done it all. If she couldn't fly the Tardis back to save him, she would have ripped it apart trying to make it do so. I think the one thing River and Rose have in common is that utter devotion and love for him as well as an understanding how he bears it all alone and is willing to sacrifice himself.
I do see Rose walking the Earth for him. She's too devoted and in love not to do it. I think she would also touch the hand if for no other reason that faith and hope that it was the Tardis giving her a sign as to how to save them.
