I love the autons, even though they don't make a lick of sense.

:)

I had a scary comic book when I was little that had mannequins that came to life and it is one of the scariest tropes that I can think of. Gets me every time. :D

I did get to see Spearhead from Space, that one with the newly regenerated Three vs. the Autons and I liked it a lot.

Can someone refresh me on how it works when Autons look like specific people? I'm thinking of the Centurion Rory storyline and wondering how that works. [sorry to keep editing here!] wikipedia on autons says : "Autonomous" Autons, which had a piece of Nestene Consciousness inside them and developed personalities when separated from the control unit, were featured in the 2008 Eighth Doctor audio story "Brave New Town". -- is that the thinking behind Rory? I remember the mannequins from Spearhead being more like lifelike mannequins, without replacement personalities. --- But then again, there was definitely a personality in the Mickey Auton -- though he wasn't a very sneaky copy, looking all waxy!

I'm particularly happy with the way they dealt with Daleks in new Who s1, because "Dalek" is just about my all time favorite episode. Otherwise, Daleks are by far the scariest who critter. And I hate cybermen, ugh.

Yep, that's the first thing I thought of when I the reveal was made.
