Classic Who Meta: using well-known tropes and "tributes" to other fandoms - love it or hate it?
Occasionally, Doctor Who uses well-known tropes to help propel the story forward (witness the 101 Horror Movie Tropes in the Fourth Doctor's The Brain of Morbius). Most recently, this happened in Dinosaurs on a Spaceship (i.e. homage city to Jurassic Park). Do you feel these are used as shorthand to get the audience quickly into the action--as cited in The Brain of Morbius extras--a cringeworthy evidence of a lack of ideas, or rollicking good, campy fun?
