I think I was more scared that Eleven might actually shoot someone than I was when Ten was pointing a gun at that dude that killed Jenny. Eleven's self-hatred spills over onto other people quite a bit.
Yeah, that's what I meant by "more intense"; Eleven was getting very emotional and rapidly losing control. I think he was very close to shooting somebody if Amy hadn't stopped him.
is that psychological projection, do you think? Certainly he sees himself in Jex. Poor guy.
I think Nine's main motivation for his darkness is survivor's guilt. (I don't know about Ten; I haven't watched his seasons in a long time. I forgot about the thing with Jenny). Eleven's seems to be self-hatred. I guess the guilt evolved into that. :(
Usually I go with the Doctor seeing himself in people he fights, just as a sort of general rule. In this case I think it was a lot of "You don't know me, don't ever suggest I wouldn't do what had to be done". But I also suspect that guy was basically committing suicide by Doctor.
Eleven is very emotional and there are definitely cracks in his control. I don't think he's anywhere near as out of control as Ten was yet, though
Ten meets somewhere in the middle, although I did find "The Waters of Mars" to be particularly frightening.

Eleven seems to have painful levels of self-awareness going on.
