We've seen the "Noah's Arc" theme before in Doctor Who for people attempting to survive hostile conditions on Earth, including The Ark In Space, The Beast Below and The Silent Stars Go By, and Chibnall's previous episodes The Hungry Earth/In Cold Blood. How do you think this fits in?

Not sure how the 'Noah's Arc' theme fits in to everything, except that it makes an interesting old standby for a SciFi story ('The Ark in Space' is AWESOME, by the way), perhaps?

For some reason, I'd completely forgotten that Chinballs Chibnall had written the previous Eleven-era Silurian stories, so I didn't even tie them together in my head until reading this post. Will have to think on that, especially upon rewatch.

This is the first time we've met any member of a companion's family in the Moffat era - what did you think?

I think overall it was pretty good. Brian was pretty cool, even if he was saddled with a few clunky or unfunny lines here and there (Chibnall is not a natural at comedy, apparently?). I'm overall pretty meh about Rory, so Brian being a bit of an extension of him, didn't really have me super-excited. *shrug* Still, I liked how he seemed to sort of jump into things, take them (mostly) in stride, and, in the end, because of the experience, he even became a traveler (with the Doctor, I presume?), despite his previous disgust with traveling. I do wonder where he was at the wedding (at least Wilf got a side story as to why he hadn't been at Donna's wedding in tRB) or even where Rory's mother was in all this (maybe I missed her being mentioned?), but it wasn't something that bothered me enough to not enjoy the episode.

As an aside, I'd seen an interview with Karen and Arthur about the episode where they'd mentioned how Brian wasn't very fond of Rory, but loved Amy and I sort of hoped for more exploration of that (I couldn't really glean much aside from the fact that Rory is a nurse or something?). But it was a rompy, mostly-light episode, so I think they steered away from that. Oh well.

What did you think of the Eleventh Doctor's flirtatious relationship with Queen Nefertiti? Did you find it appropriate considering his relationship with River Song?

I thought it was great and I love when we get to see Eleven flirting awkwardly with people, but then I'm of the camp where I'm confused by all the people that think River would be jealous about the whole thing (mostly commented on when that first scene was released earlier in the week). I mean, we are talking the women who quite often talks of her other lovers and people that she fancies. I mean, yeah, I'm poly, so I'm a bit biased, but I definitely see them as having a pretty open relationship. They'd really have to, IMO, to make it work. And I mean, really, River probably got there first with Nefertiti anyway... ;)

I'm firmly monogamous, but I completely agree with you about them having an open relationship. Both have been attracted to multiple people at the same time (providing you buy into Doctor/Rose, as I do), and the only hint of jealousy I can think of doesn't even appear in television canon -- it's in one of the "Night and the Doctor" shorts, where River wonders if he's got another woman on board. (And even that doesn't seem to upset her so much as make her curious.)
