It really is! Freema appeared as the mermaid Pearl in the first episode of Old Jack's Boat and in the 16th one. I haven't seen much of the episodes in between to know if Pearl shows up in any more. I took a few more screencaps of Freema in the 16th one from the iPlayer:

And these are some gifs I found on tumblr of the first episode:

Oh those are wonderful. I wanted to post them Here but I want to you credit for finding the images. From Freema's interview with the show, her character Shelly(?) can do magic and may be a mermaid.

I saw that interview, but I haven't had the chance to see Shelly do any magic yet apart from in that clip :)

Awwww, that's adorable! Is it a good show? I mean, can an adult watch it without wanting to vomit?

Well, it's for really young children, so it's not something like SJA, Phineas and Ferb or a Pixar movie that an adult can enjoy as though it was made for them too. Every 15min episode features a well-animated short story, which Bernard Cribbins tells unfailingly charmingly. I've only watched 4 episodes of the 25 thereabouts that have aired, and there was definitely a difference between watching the two stories written by RTD and two that weren't, so I don't know that I'd want to watch the rest, although I'm sure there will be others just as good or better than his. I suggest you watch episode 16 Grandpa Pops to see mermaid Freema and to get a feel for the series and see if you want to watch the rest.
