Once upon a time I wondered why Captain Jack Harkness never showed up again after Rory & Amy were added to the show. After all he's shown up before, albeit briefly, when other companions were around - so why not them?
But I quickly realized exactly why Jack never made a comeback or even a cameo from this point in the series. It was because this would end up happening:
Scene: (Inside the Tardis)
Bedroom door opens, the Doctor rushes with excited expression.
Dr?: "Amy, come to the control room, you won't believe-"
Sitting in the bed & half covered by the sheet is Jack, with a smug look on his face.
Dr?: "Jack?! What are you doing in here?! And where's Amy?"
To Jack's right, Amy's head pop out from under the sheet.
Amy: "Oh quit yer yellin', I'm right here."
Dr?: "Oh my... Amy, I can't believe this! When Rory finds out-"
To Jack's left, Rory's head pop out from under the sheet.
Rory: "Finds out what?"
Dr?: *brain implodes*
Jack: *grins*
