A question about Time Lords and paradoxes
Not spoilery to those who haven't watched Genesis of the Daleks, as this is the premise of the serial.
I've just watched Genesis of the Daleks, my first classic serial, where the story starts with a Time Lord ordering the Doctor to stop the creation of the Daleks or to at least make them benign.
I am puzzled by this. I know that the Daleks have made several appearances prior to GotD. Wouldn't changing or stopping the Daleks create a paradox? The new series makes it sound as if a paradox is one of the worst things that can happen to time (and it is).
Has the concept of a "paradox" already been invented at the time of GotD? If so can Time Lords allow the existence of paradoxes? The Doctor himself can't or won't now, but he believed (as Four) that it can be done.
