The Message of Mystery

In this unique "photo-story" from 1964 annual The Dalek Book, "Susan, Dr. Who's grand-daughter" visits the peaceful planet of Skaro, with hilarious consequences!

No universal conquest?! What do they do all day, just come up with wonderful inventions? Still, that one paranoid Dalek sounds more like the Daleks of the future.

Interesting that even in this previously unchronicled peaceful period of Dalek history, it only takes three Daleks to put the entire city on a war footing.

Can you see what they did in that last panel? Who needs Photoshop? The imaginatively named Dalek City may be the same Dalek city as Kaalann from the recent, equally imaginatively named game City of the Daleks.

Poor old Susan, looks like those weak ankles let her down again. It's no fun to get caught in those doors, I've seen it happen on the Tube. Bondage time now.

Daleks admire a human with spirit. Who knew? Doubtless they supplied lashings of ginger beer.

Now they're fascinated by her and won't shut up about her. I'm sure we've all had friends like that.

"ATT-EN-TION PRE-TTY YOUNG CREA-TURE! DA-LEK SOF-TIE HAS GROWN FOND OF YOU. YOU WILL STAY! STAAAAY! STAAAAAAY! STAAAAAAAAAY!" I can only imagine how well that conversation went.

Poor old Dalek Softie. It was for the best. It's hard to imagine Susan's grandfather consenting to give her away.

It says Peace and goodwill to all. Perhaps it was sent at Christmas?

So, what do you reckon?
