encouraging batshit stupid pairings/scenarios, guys! I've got a NaNo and four prompt tables to work on! I don't need the bunnies! (Name suggestions are welcome, though. Seriously, I know I can do better than that, but I'm too tired.)
Unbetaed. I wouldn't subject a beta to this.
Whipped
"Ted?"
Tora's voice is soft and tentative, and he's smiling at her even before he's finished turning around, wiping his hands on a nearby rag on the workbench where some of Bug's smaller parts are spread out. "Hey, what's up?"
Looking up at him, Tora bites her lip and glances to the side. Then she straightens her shoulders and looks back up at him, a hint of determination behind her nervous expression. It's so endearing, he feels his heart melt a little and the urge to wrap an arm around her shoulders.
"I...need a favor," she says slowly, eyes wandering away from his face again.
"Sure," he agrees easily.
Tora smiles back at him, looking suddenly amused. "You might not like it," she warns him.
Puffing his chest out a little, Ted replies gallantly, "For you, fair lady, I couldn't refuse anything you asked."
That turns her smile into a tiny grin and a faint blush appears on her cheeks. Stepping closer, she rests her hands lightly on his chest, leaning up toward his face. Ted's breath catches in confusion and sudden, startled arousal.
Lips almost brushing his ear, her breath tickles so distractingly he almost misses her whispered words.
"Wait, what?"
Tora sighs softly, that tiny sound she sometimes makes when she's disappointed by something but trying not to show it for fear of hurting someone's feelings. Leaning back just a bit to look him in the eye (close enough to kiss...), she says it again.
"I need you to apologize to Guy."
His gut is healed and significantly smaller, but he still remembers the blow to it and his self-esteem provided courtesy of Guy Gardner. He frowns at her and says, "I know I've said you need to take life a little less seriously, but I think you could still stand to work on your sense of humor."
Now her expression is disappointed. It's like letting down his mom and all his favorite teachers all in one. Except thinking about his mom or Mrs. O'Donnell while an attractive woman is leaning against him is something he'd rather not do.
"You said anything," she reminds him, and he winces.
"When I said that, I wasn't including the impossible."
Tora's eyebrows draw together and she looks down, fingers tracing absent patterns over his chest. "Ted, I need you to apologize." She glances back up, icy blue eyes peering through white lashes. "So that I can get Guy to apologize to you."
Startled, Ted stares at her. Taking this as encouragement, for no reason he can fathom except optimism, she continues.
"You really hurt him, Ted. And I know he hurt you. But if you both apologized, I think maybe you could both...start to get over it?"
Her smile is hopeful and he turns his head to sigh, rubbing the back of his neck with one hand. The worst part is that it makes sense. Tora's good at making sense.
Looking back at her, her smile just daring him to break her heart by refusing, he's done for. "Fine," he sighs, then quickly adds, "But if he starts gloating--"
"He won't! I promise!" Tora's reply is quick. She smiles sheepishly. "I already asked him not to."
So Guy knows Tora is in here wrapping him around her finger. He'll probably grin at Ted like a smug bastard when Tora's back is turned.
Ted tosses the rag back on the workbench as Tora leads him away, fingers catching on his.
He's surprised when she leads him to her room, but then he figures maybe Guy will be less likely to break anything if it belongs to Tora. (Though that probably doesn't bode well for Ted's bones, as he's the only thing in there not Tora's.)
Guy's already there, for all the world looking like a petulant child waiting for a scolding and time-out. He might as well be, Ted supposes, resolving not to give in to his more immature urges and tease Guy later about being whipped.
Those who live in glass houses, after all.
Standing between them, Tora looks at Ted expectantly, smiling. Ted grimaces and meets the gaze of the wall over Guy's shoulder.
"Sorry," he says reluctantly. "...About the fight."
"I know why--" Guy cuts himself off at a look from Tora, then stares down at his feet and mumbles, "Yeah, sorry 'bout hittin' ya."
Tora beams at them both, and Ted's bruised ego swells a bit at the knowledge that she's proud of him.
Clearing his throat, Ted says, "Well, I guess I'll be going," and turns to leave, but is stopped when Tora's fingers, still caught on his, tighten. He glances at them in surprise, then at Tora. Her smile is nervous again.
"Actually...Ted...I need to ask you for another favor."
"Aw c'mon, babe, he ain't gonna say yes," Guy protests, and Ted is surprised to find the man is blushing.
"Guy, you promised!" There's disappointment in Tora's voice again and both men wince.
"Fine, ask 'im," Guy grumbles, shuffling his feet. "But he ain't gonna say yes."
Expression determined now, Tora steps closer to Ted, breasts brushing against his chest. Ted almost wants to step back, because Guy is right there, but the man doesn't even glare at him. He just stands there projecting acute embarrassment (his ears are blushing).
"I need your help," Tora tells him earnestly. "You see...I broke my strap-on a few days ago. We tried the ring, but Guy's concentration breaks. And ice melts too fast."
Ted's brain takes a moment to regroup as it tries to make sense of her words. "So...you...need me to fix it?" he tries weakly.
That makes her smile. Pressing closer, the hand not holding his slowly moves down his front before settling just south of his belt. She leans up so her lips brush his ear as she says, "Not quite...."
A glance at Guy gets him a defiant look, though the man is still blushing. Nothing about Guy's expression or body language indicates that this is a joke.
And Tora's hand is doing something distracting.
"I...yeah, okay," Ted says, voice going hoarse halfway through. "Yes."
He definitely won't be teasing Guy later.
