Pretty Noble

"So long and see you in the funny papers, fellas!" I shouted with a charming grin and a roguish wink. Then I fired up my jetpack and--

Since when do you have a jetpack?

Since always. Now as I was--

Can I see it?

...It's in the shop. Anyway, I fired up my jetpack and shot out of there like a bat out of hell, just as the warehouse exploded behind me. I outpaced the fireball into the sky by mere inches! It was amazing. Aw, you should've seen it. So I was just hitting the stratosphere--

The what?

Above the clouds. I hit the stratosphere and--

How'd you breathe?

I...had a...helmet. Didn't I mention it?

Nah.

Must've forgotten. Anyway, that's when I met Princess T'anay. See, the explosion damaged my jetpack--

Ohhh, that's why it's in the shop, right?

Right. It was damaged and I was starting to fall. Now I'm not a splatologist, but I'd bet the farm a fall from that height would kill someone, or hurt them badly. Even if that someone's me! So just as I was starting to worry, the princess beams me aboard her invisible spaceship. That's why no one noticed it, it was invisible.

Makes sense.

It does! So once I was on board her invisible ship, the princess declared her eternal love. She was a big fan, see. Been watching all my exploits. Said she wanted to take me away to her home planet and marry me and make me king. But I told her no matter how much I wanted to (she was hot for a green chick), I had a responsibility to my planet! Earth needs me, and no amount of fame, prestige, and freaky alien sex can sway me from my sworn duty to protect it.

Wow, that's pretty noble of ya.

I know. That's just how I roll.

Delicately brushing a hand over the finely-chiseled features on the screen, Princess T'anay sighed wistfully.

"We could have been so good together, you and I," she murmured. "Ruling my world, sharing a harem...oh, your nobility is boundless. Farewell...my hero."
