 Welcome to Spring!
This week we honor two equally important occasions: Earth Day (April 22 this year) and Shakespeare's Birthday (April 23).  Earth Day began in 1970 as a commemoration of our connection to the Earth, an "environmental teach-in", and a reminder of our planet's fragility.
William Shakespeare was born in 1564, and 443 years later he is still considered the greatest writer the English language has ever known.  His work still speaks to us in large part because of his uncanny grasp of the workings of the human mind.  He lived in a time of transition from rural to urban society,  a transition which still affects us today.  His works are full of references to nature, to the Earth, to our connections and conflicts with the world, each other, and fate.  Like all great artists, he reminds us of what it means to be human, and that we are never alone in our sorrows or our joys.  There is something very healing in that.

"We know what we are, but not what we may be."
- Wm. Shakespeare  Welcome Therese!
We are pleased to welcome Therese Holland, LMT, to the crew at Stellaria.  Therese is a graduate of The Chicago School of Massage Therapy, and a licensed massage therapist with certification in pre-natal and post-partum massage, hot stone therapy, and Reiki.  She also trained as a Yoga teacher with Logan Square's own Temple of Kriya Yoga.
Therese's style consists of integrating swedish relaxation, muscle therapy, trigger point therapy, myofascial work, hot stones, reiki, reflexology, essential oils, and yoga to restore and rejuvenate your body and mind.
Therese is also a long-time Logan Square dweller, and is very happy to be able to walk to work!  Please contact us if you would like to set up an appointment with Therese.
New!  Phone Consultations for Established Naturopathic Clients
Stephanie will now be offering phone consultations for the convenience of clients who live far away or have overcrowded schedules.  If you are an established naturopathic client and would like to schedule a phone consultation, please call or e-mail to set up an appointment time.  Rates are the same as for in-person appointments ($100 per hour), but without the hassle of travel.  Payment must be made by credit card at time of service.
New clients will all be seen at the office for a face-to-face intake.  Please call or email us if you have any questions about this service.
Re-use Comes Before Recycle
Earth Day was April 22, a day to remember the principles of sustainability, conservation, and preservation of the Earth's resources.  Stellaria was founded in the belief that natural medicine, and a natural way of living, can survive and thrive in an urban environment.  We do our best to conserve natural resources by recycling and reusing whenever possible.  To that end, we will now be using recyclable (and reusable!) plastic containers to hold herbs and tea blends.  You may bring these containers back for a refill, or leave them with us to be cleaned and re-used.  The containers are not only more earth-friendly, they are easier to handle and more durable than plastic bags. "Joy, gentle friends! Joy, and fresh days of love accompany your hearts!"
--Shakespeare, Midsummer  Night's Dream

May the Spring be full of joy and growth for each of you.  Always remember, we are here to help you feel your best.  We hope to see you all soon!
In Health,
StephanieStephanie Draus, ND
