There is a lot of Mark/Derek bonding, a little bit of Mark/Addison bonding and then, some Addek squee, LOL. Interesting mix, I know. ;)
Anyhoo, here it is...
“You know,” Addison giggled, “If you keep that up I’m going to have to wear a turtleneck today.” He began to kiss harder and a throaty moan escaped Addison’s lips. Gently, she trailed her foot up and down his leg, from ankle to knee and back again.
Derek smiled and looked up at her, “Are you telling me that you want me to stop?” He continued kissing her soft skin and his lips began to move away from the spot just below her jaw bone and down over her shoulder.
“No…” she said with a big smile, tilting her head over to the side, allowing him more access. “I really am okay with the turtleneck thing.” She closed her eyes and moaned softly, “So, please, please continue that.”
Derek laughed against her skin, causing her to giggle once more, as she rolled over; Derek’s hands fell around her waist and he pulled her on top of him. She placed both hands gently on his shoulders and kissed him softly and sensually. She pulled back, “You know, it’s only fifteen after six. We have time for another round...if you’re up for it.”
Derek grinned brightly, capturing her lips in his and pulling her down to him. His hands moved from her hips across her back, slowly rubbing and causing her skin to grow warm. “Though,” Addison began, trying her best to sound serious, “We should probably try to get some sleep before we go into the hospital.”
“Ah, sleep is overrated. It gives me nothing that a strong cup of coffee, some eye drops and a shower can’t give me.” He grinned, “But you-and what we did…three?...times last night…or this morning-that is definitely something that I can’t get enough of.”
Addison laughed with a playful and light look on her face. She kissed him. “Four, actually…the time on the couch, the time after we put Matthew to bed, then the time you woke me up and then the last time, a few minutes ago. So, it was four times, not three.”
“I stand corrected.” Derek shifted his weight and rolled over, taking her with him, so that he was now on top. “Hmm, you know, the morning is still young and I think we could both use a shower.”
Addison grinned, “I think you’re right.”
Suddenly, Derek and Addison both were out of the bed. Addison pulled back the glass door and turned on the water. She turned to Derek, looking him up and down with a sly grin on her face. “You really are ready for this shower, aren’t you?” As his response, he grabbed her and pulled close to him. He kissed her hard on the mouth, stepping forward and simultaneously forcing Addison back towards the shower.
And just as Addison placed one foot in the shower, the phone rang. She stopped, breaking the kiss. “Who would be calling us before seven?”
“I don’t care,” Derek told her, stepping back into kiss her.
“What if it wakes up Matthew?”
Derek’s eyebrows rose and laughed softly, “We could drive a train through his bedroom and he wouldn’t flinch.”
Addison smiled; “True…” she stepped into the shower and gently pulled Derek along with her. His lips hovered just over hers when Mark’s voice filled the air.
“Derek-it’s me-I know it’s early and you’re probably asleep, but it’s an emergency.”
Derek and Addison both pulled back slightly. “Go take the call,” Addison told him, “It sounds important.”
Derek sighed and backed away and Addison turned around to turn off the water. She pulled on her robe and went back into the bedroom. She yawned, finally feeling how tired she was after only a couple of hours of sleep. She lay back on the bed and waited. Moments later, Derek returned wearing a pair of boxers and a t-shirt. He sat down beside her on the bed. “I have to go.”
“Is everything okay?”
“I-I think so…but he sounds like he’s having some sort of breakdown and he wouldn’t tell me about it over the phone.” Derek paused and reached out to tuck a piece of stray hair behind her ears. “He was really there for me earlier this year and I feel like I need to return the favor.”
Addison smiled, “Go.”
He leaned in and kissed her again. “I love you and I’ll definitely be taking a rain check on that shower.”
Mark was on his sixth cup of coffee that morning and it was only just after seven. He was sitting at the nurse’s station, staring off towards the elevators, nervously clicking his pen, which gained many dirty looks from various nurses who were trying to work. Mark didn’t notice them, nor did he notice the pen-clicking or that fact that he hadn’t blinked in more than ten minutes. He was waiting. He needed to talk to someone-to clear his head, get his thoughts out and hopefully gain some sort of reassurance or guidance or…something. He really didn’t know what he needed at this point, but he was hoping that he could have it all sorted out by lunchtime, when he’d promised to meet Nancy at a restaurant down the street from Seattle Grace. Finally, the elevator doors opened and Derek stepped out. Mark jumped up, practically running to meet him. Everyone on the floor could see that the usually smooth plastic surgeon was not himself, but it was even more obvious to the one person who had known him since the age of four.
“This better be good, Mark,” Derek began, as he took a long sip of his coffee. Having finished the drink in two long sips, Derek tossed the paper cup into a nearby garbage can and then continued. “Because Addison and I don’t get much alone time these days, and while last night was really, really fantastic, this morning had the potential to be even better.”
“I wasn’t kidding when I said that this was a crisis.”
Derek sighed, “Okay…are you going to tell me what it is?”
Mark looked around, “We should go somewhere else.”
Annoyed, Derek sighed again and followed Mark into one of the on-call rooms. He looked around. “This is slightly weird.” He looked around, “I really hope that no one saw you dragging me in here because the McDreamy/McSteamy gossip has been, thankfully, slow lately and the implications here would be something some bored nurse or obnoxious intern wouldn’t be able to resist spreading around the hospital.”
Mark didn’t crack a smile, he hardly heard Derek speaking. “Do you want to sit down? Because, I think you should sit down…or…maybe I should sit down…yeah, I’m going to sit down.” Derek raised his eyebrows and watched Mark take a seat on the edge of the bed. “Did you want to sit?”
“No, I’m good.”
“Oh…” There was a long pause, as Mark gathered his thoughts.
“Mark, if you made me meet you here to sit in an on-call room with you and stare at you when I could have been…”
“Nancy’s pregnant,” Mark blurted out. He looked up at his best friend, the friend who had always been his moral compass. “I’m going to be a father.”
Derek’s jaw dropped slightly, as he spat, “You got my sister pregnant?”
“Yeah…”
Derek felt himself sink down into the chair behind him. “Maybe I do need to sit down.” He paused, watching Mark run his hands roughly over his face, “You got my sister pregnant,” he repeated, this time a little more matter-of-factly. He was slowly, but surely getting used to the idea of Mark being with his sister. The acceptance was slow, but he suddenly realized that he was okay with it. “So, that’s your crisis?”
“I have no idea what I’m going to do,” he looked up at Derek and shook his head. “I don’t know how to be a father.”
Derek studied him, “It’s not something that you just know how to do. It’s something that you learn to do; you learn as you go.”
“I’m a screw-up, Derek.” He shook his head, “What if I screw this up, too?”
“You’re not going to screw this up.”
“You don’t know that.”
“But you don’t know that I won’t.” He paused and looked up at Derek, “I’ve never been so scared of something in my entire life.”
Derek sighed. This seemed like a better conversation to be having at a bar over a few beers, rather than an on-call room with the absence of coffee. “It’s only natural to be scared, Mark. Don’t you think I was scared?”
Mark looked at him with a serious and somber look on his face, “You and Addison have been thinking about a family for such a long time-you two were meant to be parents.”
Derek shrugged his shoulders, “You can read all the books, paint the nursery and child-proof the entire house, but when you bring that baby home-it’s the scariest thing in the world-but its also one of the best things in the world.” Derek smiled softly and nostalgically. “And Addie and I weren’t so prepared.”
“Could have fooled me,” Mark told him.
“It happened so quickly. One minute, we were just getting back together, then the next thing I know, we’re talking about adoption and marriage and a week later, I had a son-this perfect, little boy.” He grinned, “The first night we brought Matthew home-it was almost surreal. He was ours. We spent that first night just staring at him wondering what the hell we were going to do next. Addison woke up every five minutes to make sure that he was still breathing and every time I picked him up, I couldn’t help but think that I might drop him and give him irreversible brain damage. But you know what? Every time I held him and every time that Addison went to check on him, it got a little easier for us. And then one day, I realized that I wasn’t going to break him and suddenly, I wasn’t so scared anymore.”
Mark nodded, staring off as if in deep thought. “I accidentally killed my gerbil when I was nine-forgot to feed the damn thing….”
Derek laughed slightly, “Yeah, I remember that. But…if you’re worried about not feeding the baby, I can guarantee he or she will remind you.” He smiled, “Kids are quite vocal.” He shrugged his shoulders, “Besides, you’re great with Matthew.”
“That’s different.”
“How?”
“He’s yours and-actually, the reason for my panic.”
Derek stared at him, “Please tell me that my son isn’t going to need therapy after spending one evening with you.”
Mark smiled and shook his head, “No, he’ll be okay.” His smile faded, “When Nancy first told me, I was so excited. With her, I have more than I ever thought I’d have. I feel like I’ve finally found something that’s real, someone that’s worth it all. I couldn’t stop smiling. I love her and the idea of having a family with her-it’s more than I ever thought I’d have with anyone. I never thought I’d be a father.”
“What changed?”
“I realized after I dropped Matthew off at home with you and Addison, that…I can’t do that with my own kid. I can’t just return him or her at the end of the day. It’s going to be mine…my responsibility. Then, it hit me that Matthew is a real person…he’s a person and he has all these needs.”
Derek tilted his head to the side, “You just realized that babies are real people and that they need things?”
Mark laughed slightly. “In a way, yeah-I did.” He shook his head, “It just hit me-I’m going to be a father. I’m going to be responsible for that little, needy child-that little person.” He looked at Derek, “What if I can’t do it? I never had a father.”
“Neither did I, but I think I’m doing okay.” He paused, “If you weren’t scared about this, I’d think that there was something wrong with you.” He stood up and crossed over to Mark, “Listen, we’ve had our fair share of differences and I’ll be the first to admit that you are a screw up and have done some really stupid things.” He sighed, “That said, you’ve really grown up in the last year. You’re a good man and you’re going to be a good father.”
“It’s really normal to be feeling this way? Because last night-I thought I was going to have heart attack.”
Derek grinned, “Perfectly normal.”
Derek offered out his hand and Mark stood up. He looked at it and shook it, then pulled Derek into a quick hug. “Thanks, man.”
Derek nodded, clapping his hand on Mark’s back, “Congratulations.”
“I should go find Nancy. I was really quiet last night and this morning-I kinda bolted.” He paused, “So, you’re sure that I’m supposed to be feeling this way?”
Derek grinned and nodded, “Welcome to adulthood, Mark.”
When Mark reached the neo-natal wing, he found out from a nurse that Nancy had just scrubbed into an emergency surgery. She’d be there for the next hour. Having nothing else to do, he began wandering around the floor, eventually making his way to the nursery. He stood there, looking in through the large window at all the babies tucked into their bassinettes, wrapped in pink and blue blankets.
“Hey, there.”
He looked over to find Addison standing beside him. “I’m going to be a dad,” he told her.
She smiled. “So I’ve heard.” She looked at him, “I just scheduled Nancy’s first appointment-you should probably clear your schedule for Thursday from 9 to 9:30-ish.”
Mark nodded and smiled, “Will do.”
Addison studied Mark carefully. “Did you want to go in?”
“In there?”
Addison laughed, “It’s not a shark tank, it’s a nursery.” She grinned, “They don’t even have teeth.” She started to walk into the nursery and peered over her shoulder to see that Mark was following her. “And for the record, I am mad at you.”
“What did I do now?”
“You interrupted a shower that I was very much looking forward to.”
“Oh, yeah…Derek might have mentioned that….sorry.”
Addison began checking one of the babies wrapped in a pink blanket. “So, what was the big crisis?”
Mark grinned, “You must not have heard me before…I am going to be a father.”
She smiled, “Nervous?”
“That would be an understatement.”
“That’s normal.”
“So I’ve heard,” he grinned. He watched her check the baby’s heart rate. “Do you think I’ll be a good father?”
Addison looked up, “A year ago, I would have said no. I would have said that you were a callous, self-absorbed jerk who didn’t know how to put anyone before yourself, that all you thought about was your own needs and wants and that everything else paled in comparison.”
“Gee, tell me how you really feel about me, Addison.”
She smiled, “But now, I wouldn’t say any of those things.” Mark’s eyebrows raised and Addison continued. “You’ve really grown up in the last year, Mark and I really believe that’s Nancy’s doing. They say that you can’t change a man, but I think Nancy’s proved everyone wrong. I mean, look at you-you’ve been in a steady relationship for almost a year, you’ve gone out of your way to make amends with the people you’ve hurt and I see the way you are with my son-Matthew adores you,” she paused, “And so will the baby that Nancy’s carrying.”
“You think?”
“Yeah, I wouldn’t have said this a year ago, but…you’re going to be a great dad, Mark.” He smiled slightly, relaxing just a little bit more, now that he had the votes of confidence from his two best friends.
Derek grinned when he stepped off the elevator and saw a glimpse of red hair from behind the nurse’s station. He walked over and leaned against the counter.
“Hey, you,” he said with a smile.
She smiled back, “Hey.”
“Busy?” He asked casually.
“Not really, just going over some post-op notes.” She eyed him, “Why?”
“Oh, just because I was thinking that I don’t have a surgery until one and you aren’t scheduled for anything until twelve thirty and…” he paused, allowing a sly grin to form on his lips, “And I never got my morning shower.”
She smiled innocently, “Oh, well, I had my shower.”
He leaned in slightly and smiled, imagining her in the shower, already aroused and finishing herself off with her fingers. He looked up at her. “I think I’d like to cash in that rain check now.”
Minutes later, Derek and Addison were in the back of the locker room in the shower area, lips locked and hands roaming all over the others’ body. It wasn’t long before their navy blue scrubs lay in a pile in front of the shower stall. Addison reached in behind herself and turned on the hot water. She stepped back into the shower, pulling Derek with her, careful not to break the kiss. The hot water cascaded over their bodies; their roaming hands creating a warm friction.
Derek pulled back slightly, breaking the kiss just long enough to look into her blue eyes and smiled that charming McDreamy smile that made her weak in the knees. He reached over to the soap dispenser on the wall and pumped some of the clear green liquid bath gel into his palm, then rubbed it along her wet, slippery skin. Gently, but firmly he massaged the soap over her skin, taking his time to work up a thick lather. A low moan escaped her lips, as his soap sleeked fingers caressed over her shoulders and breasts. She smiled and closed her eyes, enjoyed his touch. After awhile and after he’d soaped her up from head-to-toe he gently turned her under the water and resumed kissing her swollen lips. Addison followed suit. Filling her hands with soap and working it al over his body. Her hands moved slowly down Derek’s chest, feeling over his abs and down his torso until she found what she was searching for. Her fingers wrapped around him, pumping up and down the shaft of his semi-erection, her fingers tracing over the head then all the way back down the length of him. He found her lips and kissed her hard, moaning lowly into her mouth and situating one hand on the back over her neck, he pulled her deeper into the kiss, as the water jetted down over them.
Derek’s lips traveled away from Addison’s, down her neck and to her chest. In her hand she could feel him growing harder and thicker and finally, let go of him. He quickly turned her away from the water cascading out from the shower head and lifted her slightly, pressing her up against the cold tiled wall. Her legs wrapped around his hips and he continued to kiss between her breasts, slowly moving one hand up her ribcage. As his hand drew farther and farther up her side, his mouth moved to one breast and his hand soon followed to the other. He grinned, hearing the soft moans escaping from her lips. With his free hand, he slipped it behind her, allowing her to slide down against the wall, as he positioned his erection between her legs.
Derek thrust upwards, entering her slowly and entirely.
“Ooooh…” Addison cried out, rolling her head to the side, as Derek began thrusting in and out of her, simultaneously sucking and licking and rolling her erect nipples in his mouth and between his fingers. With every thrust their breathing grew more and more erratic. She dug her fingernails into his shoulder blades, pulling herself closer to him, as she bit down on her bottom lip. Derek pulled his mouth away from her breast and trailed kisses long her neck and up towards her mouth. He lingered there for a moment, feeling her hot breath against his mouth. Unable to hold back, Addison captured his lips in hers, sucking them into her mouth, her tongue slipping between his lips, exploring his mouth. Derek quickly followed suit, his tongue entering her mouth, slowly beginning a dance with hers. As the kiss grew in intensity and passion, so did Derek’s thrusts. He thrust in and out of her, almost frantically and she gasped, hardly able to catch her breath. Moments later, he felt her inner walls contracting around him, squeezing him until he felt himself tensing. Addison’s head fell onto his shoulder, as her body thrashed against him, reaching an intense orgasm. He couldn’t hold on any longer. He pushed himself into her, all the way and held himself there, as he exploded into her, increasing the intensity of her own orgasm.
Derek felt her legs slip down from around his hips to the back of his legs. Slowly, he pulled back and slipped out of her; her feet falling to the shower floor. He smiled softly at her, his eyes filled with a mixture of lust and love. “Five times in less than twenty four hours…not bad.”
Addison laughed slightly, still recovering from the orgasm that had overtaken her body. “Whoever said that once you had kids your sex life becomes boring was so, so wrong.”
Derek laughed and pulled her to him spinning them both underneath the streaming jets of hot water, as he kissed her again.
PS--I still haven't written the last chapter, LOL.
