This has been a superduper extra relaxing week, and now I'm really looking forward to going back to DC, going home.

I haven't seen my parents house as home for quite a while now. When I was at Cuse, I referred to it as home, whether I was in a dorm room or on Ackerman Avenue. And when I spent 8 months in DC and went right back to Cuse, DC seemed more home to me than Western Mass did. I think I spent a total of a month in Massachusetts in 2005. I'm also wicked tired (see, you can take me out of New England but you can't take New England out of me!) of living under my parents rules, especially the whole "don't be late," "are they picking you up," "don't drink too much" variety. Gimme a break, I've been on my own since I was 18, moreso when I turned 21 (summer in DC), and obviously now because I'm living in one of the largest cities in the country, paying my bills, and holding down a real job that I actually love.

Long rant short, I'm really looking forward to going back to DC. But it was a good week. Last Saturday, my Uncle Rocky and Aunt Susan had an open house, which was really Memere's 85th Surprise Birthday Party. There were may be 55-60 people there. All of my family except the small Florida contingent, and Uncle Guy because he's in a nursing home now. Memere was nonplussed.

Christmas was nice. Lots of delicious homemade food, I got money, gift cards for iTunes, Target, IKEA (all the essentials!), my parents had my degree framed, my brother got me Bob Woodward's new book. My parents got me this black t-shirt, and on the front of it says "poop" in white lettering, and in the back it reads, "protest outrageous oil profits." Awesome.

I saw Carolyn for the first time in like 2 years, I saw my Big for the first time in 3 years, I saw Pat and Jeffy. It was all awesome. Carolyn is doing well; she gets her BS in May and then goes on rotations for a year. In May 2008, she'll have her Masters. Danielle (my Big) had Franziskaner at her house in honor of her German boyfriend (who is very nice) and her mom made homemade chocolate mousse. Coincidentally, Franziskaner happens to be my favorite beer of all-time. She's heading back to LA on New Year's Day, same day I'm heading back to DC. Pat and Jeffy are still Pat and Jeffy.

Tomorrow I leave Western Mass for Boston for NewYearsAPalooza with the CuseAPalooza. I am sooo excited. Last year, we had 22 bottles of champagne for 20 people. We'll see what happens this year.

My flight leaves Boston on New Year's Day. I don't think I'm going to have a chance to go see President Ford, and I have to work on Tuesday (although the federal government shut down for a day of mourning). May be they'll have the funeral on at work.

Saddam Hussein is dead. I wonder what happened when he got to the Pearly Gates?
