Day 3 & Tree

Sep 03, 2008 08:43

So, here I am at day 3 of sobriety and all is well. I can do this!

In a bit of ironic justice (who remembers or heard about the infamous Leo Carillo beach party?) there was a drunk idiot singing in Spanish outside our window at 2:30 this morning. We finally had to close the window and they eventually went away. Actually it's only ironic justice to me, since T wasn't at that infamous event.

I have a bookmark from the Muir woods that has "Advice From A Tree" on it:

-Stand Tall & Proud
-Sink Your Roots into the Earth
-Be Content with Your Natural Beauty
-Drink Plenty of Water
-Enjoy the View!

Good advice.

I was using it in the book "Beautiful Boy" which I just finished. Can I just say that I hate Nic Sheff; the subject of the book? I hated him as I read his book; Tweak, because he seems like such a self-centered, arrogant, lazy, piece of shit asshole. It was fascinating to a read a book where I had no sympathy whatsoever for the narrator. He stole from his parents and siblings (The worse offenses: his little sister's diary-because he needed a notebook-and his brother's entire savings of 8 bucks!), left for weeks on end without word, and then when he finally did call, he asked for money. What a jerk! But, I hated him even more after his Dad's book, because it became clear just how he had damaged his family.
