Raw & Naughty
I've been working on old Paramount films; conforming various foreign language tracks to the HD video masters, and my favorite so far has been "Eddie Murphy: Raw" in Italian. I am SO impressed by the guy who dubbed Eddie's voice. He does Eddie's laugh, and every impression of Eddie's, including Bill Cosby, Michael Jackson, Sylvester Stallone, and various usually hysterical women. And I don't know if you've seen the film, but there are sections where Eddie is talking a mile a minute, and this guy totally keeps up! Like I said; impressive. I wish I could meet the guy and tell him how impressed I am.
One side effect of doing these foreign language tracks is that I'm picking up naughty words in other languages. I only have the phonetic spelling, as I've only heard the words, not seen them spelled. For example, "fuck" is "fanculo" in Italian. "Pussy" is "meenu" in French, and "chumino" in Castillian Spanish (C-SPAN, for short). And "nipple" is "pithon" in C-SPAN.
It looks like I have a week off next week and then, in the words of my supervisor, I'll run into the buzz-saw that is pilot season. But, it seems, after checking the schedule that I'll be able to go to Coachella the last weekend of this month. Score!
