Stolen from thirstyrobot: it's a WIP meme thing!

Post the first sentence (or three) from every WIP you're currently working on, even if it's very short. Then invite people to ask questions about your WIPs. With any luck, the motivation to take that WIP one step closer to completion will appear as if by magic! There's probably more, but these are the ones I'm actually (more or less) actively trying ( Read more... )

Yeah, completely. I just sort of got to a point where it wasn't coming together the way I wanted - I've got disparate story bits, but not really sort of a big unifying bigness that I was looking for. It's nice also just to inhabit a universe that functions on a very different internal logic as well, especially since there's not a lot of fic out there for the pairings/crossovers I'm writing to begin with, it's not totally overwhelming and you kind of feel like you're not perpetually fighting against the fanon of millions if you want to take things in a certain direction, which is something you sometimes get in bigger fandoms when one really well-known writer starts writing them in a certain way and everyone just sort of picks up on that, and then if someone does them differently it feels wrong even though they're not actually violating canon at all. And just getting to write for some genuinely fascinating, really complex characters who have a lot of shit going on and a lot of weird baggage and how on earth to negotiate that.

But I'm really enjoying sort of working through and thinking this show of mine - especially for some reason Barratt's snarky wife. There's a lot of banter. It's very exciting.

And yeah, classic Who. It's amazeballs. It really goes to show you SO don't need CGI to tell a good science fictional story.
