*Elsewhere*

*Non-interference had seemed the best tact for handling this crisis, the juxtapositions in time and space he's encountered, but now -- on what appears to be earth -- he finds that idea in tatters.

The air around him burns with radioactivity. As he walks through the sheering mushroom cloud, protected only by his magics, he nearly stumbles on ... a corpse? More like a shell. Empty, metallic flesh. He represses an urge to vomit. This was once the hero Captain Atom. No more.

His mind reaches out. This is his future, or perhaps, a posible future. He's in Kansas, and there's been ...

Someone's here. He walks, deadening the force of radiation around him. Kneeling on the now-fallow ground is a large man with a horned helmet. Some sort of metahuman -- strong enough to resist the torrent surrounding them, but weeping openly. Many died here. Thousands, maybe more.

In the distance, he can feel a version of himself bristling -- Nabu, sans a human host. He knows now where he is -- a world he thought lost.

But then, he's never believed worlds could be lost entirely.

Still, the path should not have brought him back to Earth, even an Earth of the future. Where is he?*
