Arthur Darvill Megapost

Dec 02, 2011 14:12

Hello folks! It's a good day to be Arthur Darvill, and also a fan of his. Three new things up on his plate today:

Firstly, he is asking people to please support Amnesty Internation's Write for Rights campaign for Women of Zimbabwe Arise (WOZA), an organization dedicated to providing women in Zimbabwe a united voice against the social, economic and human rights conditions in Zimbabwe. You can view a video message from Arthur and information on how you can lend your support at AIUK's webpage here.

Next up is a radio play on BBC 4 Radio called 'Burning Both Ends: When Oliver Reed Met Keith Moon', which broadcasts on Thursday, December 8th at 2:15pm (if I translated that right--14:15). Arthur plays Keith Moon and Sean Pertwee plays Oliver Reed. The play tells the story of how Moon (drummer for The Who) met Reed (an actor) and the friendship that formed between them.

Lastly! Our boy is up for a nomination in the 2012 WhatsOnStage.com Awards for Best Supporting Actor in a Play (as Mephistopheles in Doctor Faustus). His competition include Mark Godtiss Gatiss for Season's Greetings. Other Who alumni nominated include David Tennant (Much Ado About Nothing) and James Corden (One Man, Two Guvnors) for Best Actor in a Play, Catherine Tate (Season's Greetings) and Sheridan Smith (Flare Path) for Best Supporting Actress in a Play, Simon Callow (Being Shakespeare) for the Jo Hutchison International Best Solo Performance, and Steve Thompson (writer of DW episode Curse of the Black Spot) for Best New Comedy (No Naughty Bits),

Also of note is that the reunion of Davif Tennant and Catherine Tate for Much Ado About Nothing has been nominated for the Theatre Event of the Year, as has Bush Theatre's production of 66 Books in which Catherine and Arthur both performed. Also Benedict Cumberbatch has been nominated for Best Actor in a Play as well, for Frankenstein
