Arthur Darvill will play Mephistopheles in The Globe's upcoming production of Christopher Marlowe’s Doctor Faustus from 18 June.
Sez the
Daily Mail:
"Rory Williams - the bloke Arthur Darvill plays in Dr Who - is such a nice man that the actor wanted to find a part for his next role that was the total opposite. Someone with a devilish personality.
Darvill will play the evil sprite Mephistopheles in Doctor Faustus at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre from June 18, with Paul Hilton as the title character who makes that infamous literary pact.
Matthew Dunster will direct the play and his production will include puppetry staged by Steve Tiplady, who used to be at the Little Angel Theatre Company in North London. Darvill’s one of our best young actors, so good in Little Dorrit on TV and Pelican Blood on the big screen."
According to The Globe's
website, the production runs through October 2nd.
Yes, that probably means what you think it means.
I am unholy excited for him (and jealous of all you lucky bitches who live in Britain who can go see this! :D) but rather quite sad at the same time.
