All looking very promising indeed.
Vague spoilers, if you're unfamiliar with the story of Isherwood.

Christopher and His Kind
Saturday, BBC Two, 9.30pm
A fine period drama chronicling the formative years of Christopher Isherwood. Matt Smith, the young actor best known for Doctor Who, stars as the aspiring writer escaping repressed English society for hedonistic, politically unstable Berlin in the 1930s. Despite being unable to speak a word of German, “Ishyvoo” discovers the decadent Weimar cabaret scene and becomes intoxicated by the city’s thriving gay subculture. “To me, Berlin meant boys,” he gasps. Soon heart-broken by a doomed affair, he sets out to discover himself - and the writing voice of his classic 1930s novels.
Scripted by acclaimed playwright Kevin Elyot (My Night with Reg), it boasts a strong supporting cast, including Lindsay Duncan as his domineering mother, Pip Carter as his friend and fellow writer WH Auden and Douglas Booth as the street cleaner with whom Isherwood falls in love. It’s handsomely shot, lovingly recreating the period, but with a twinkling, tongue-in-cheek feel - not to mention some lusty sex scenes - that stops it becoming too misty-eyed. A success, then, and Smith excels in the lead role, all floppy hair, tweedy suits and mischievous eccentricities.
