I would die if the Doctor totally failed with a sword and then Rory picked one up and was awesome! Surprise!badass ftw!

Also pirates <3 this should be fun.

Dunno, the Doctor has a pretty good history with sword fighting

(Maybe Rory retained some skills for his plastic!legion days too XD)

I have to admit I have not seen much of classic Who, though I plan to. I have to say, I quite enjoyed that clip, so thank you. I dunno, do different reincarnations necessarily keep the skills they had before? Cause for some reason, I can't imagine Matt's Doctor that good with a sword.

I guess Rory would have to have retained some skills from then, since he obviously didn't know how to use a sword in ViV. I dunno would he have? It's still kind of unclear the transition from Auton!Rory to Real!Rory who married Amy. She seems to remember everything, and I'm guessing he does as well, but did he suddenly just become human again, or did the real him from before come back to life? Who knows.

I think qualities change for the Doctor (like the different ways he confronts problems), but learned skills don't go away if he keeps at them. Like anybody, he'd probably have a little bit of trouble with a sword if the last time he picked one up was a hundred years previous. So...Eleven could be good at sword fighting or not. The last two times the Doctor has been around Piratey people (Four- The Pirate Planet and Five - Enlightenment) there wasn't any sword fighting involved on the Doctor's part. So WHO KNOWS. /geeky ramble

and yeah...Rory. *shrug*

That makes a lot of sense. I could see Eleven picking up a sword and at first being quite bad with it, or even just pretending to be and then whipping out his mad sword skills when it becomes necessary. It'd also be interesting if they addressed his feelings towards other weapons (or weapons at all, we haven't really seen Eleven's feelings towards this unless I'm being stupid and forgetting something). I feel like swords would seem better and less objectionable to the Doctor at first, but they can kill, same as guns.

And don't worry, geeky rambling is the best kind :D
