Merry Christmas, Doctor Who

My husband (of all people, he hates Doctor Who) just linked me to this CNN article:

Merry Christmas, Doctor Who

It's a nice little article about how BBC America has chosen to air the Christmas special on the same day as the UK broadcast, but the most exciting nugget of information--IMHO--is this:

And plans are in the works for season six of " ( Read more... )

Are you also one of the people stuck with Cablevision (that would be me)? We're in one of the largest tv markets in the country (suburban NY, parts of New Jersey and Connecticut) and they refuse to give us BBC-A. It's ridiculous.

No I have Cable One. I don't know why they won't add it. :(

Boo! Those of us without BBC A will just have to band together and mope in unison.

I have Cablevision too. It freaking sucks but I have no other options. So I have to download it anyway.

But for now I'm at my parents' house for Christmas and THEY get BBC America so at least for the Christmas episode I can be all legal about it.

Cablevisions decisions about certain channels never ceases to boggle me. Why it took them 15 yrs to carry TCM or 3-5 years to carry stuff like Cartoon Network, Comedy Central, Sci-Fi and TVLand is beyond me. And now BBC-A. I'm sure it's financial, but I'd rather pay for BBC-A than all the sports channels I'll never watch or all the religious channels I certainly have no use for!

I have no other options either so yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me.

What's even stupider is that CV was one of the first carriers to pick up BBC World News. Why would they think we'd want 24/7 UK news coverage and not, yanno, their tv series?

I know, I would trade all the other miscellaneous crap channels I have just for BBC-A! I only just moved a few months ago and was stunned to find that getting BBC-A wasn't even possible. I'm already frustrated with them... *sigh*
