Really? "Strapping young man" is common enough, in my experience. Though it's usually used for young men who are actually strapping. Possibly the reviewer knew the phrase but not the particular meaning of the word and just... tossed it whole into the sentence without bothering to fact check
*by "common enough" I mean that Americans of my parents' generation use it. My mom throws it around if she wants to make me blush, i.e. "I've found a strapping young man for you! ;D"

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, "strapping" means "Strongly and stoutly built, robust, sturdy."
No way in hell is Matt strapping. Lithe? Yes. Also slender, wiry, lean, skinny, kinetic, agile, athletic, slim, spry, energetic, etc.
But not bloody STRAPPING. WTF. That word does not mean what you think it means, reviewer dude!
