this is one of my favourite episodes, even if the portrayal of Madame de Pompadour makes me slightly angry [the real Madame de Pompadour was not a nice person]. it was funny and i thought, scarier than the Empty Child/the Doctor Dances [the part where the robot smacks the Doctor from underneath the bed? Gets me EVERY TIME and their masks are so creepy and ugh]

The love story was a bit strange [it was years and years for her, but only a few hours for him, or a few days at most, right? although, he did seem to have a lot of prior knowledge about her life, so maybe he already had a lot of respect for her] but...it's Moffat, he needs love stories everywhere, and I forgive him. <3

best quotes:

The Doctor: Must be a spatio-temporal hyperlink.
Mickey: What's that?
The Doctor: No idea, I just made it up. Didn't want to say "Magic Door"

The Doctor: Have you met the French? My God they know how to party!
Rose: Oh look at what the cat dragged in, the oncoming storm.
The Doctor: You sound just like your mother.
Rose: What have you been doing? Where have you been?
The Doctor: Well, among other things, I /think/ I may have just invented the banana daiquiri a few centuries early. Always take a banana to a party, Rose. Bananas are good.

The Doctor: It's you! You're my favourite! You are the best, you know why? Cause you're so thick! You're mister thick thickity thick face from thicktown thickannia. And so is your dad!

King Louis: What the hell is going on?
Reinette: Oh. This is my lover, the king of France.
The Doctor: Yeah? Well I'm the Lord of Time.

Mickey: So that Doctor, eh?
Rose: I don't know what you're talking about.
Mickey: Well, Madame de Pompadour, Sarah Jane Smith, Cleopatra.
Rose: Oh, Cleopatra! He mentioned her once.
Mickey: Yeah, but he called her Cleo.

ok I'll stop :]

You saved me from having to write a long comment myself, because you pretty much said everything.

One quote I have to add, though:

Mickey: What's a horse doing on a space ship?
The Doctor: Mickey, what's pre-Revolutionary France doing on a spaceship? Have some perspective.

Yup, all of these. The problem with this sort of thing is that you can end up quoting the entire episode, isn't it? The whole thing's just brilliant.
