Mod Post: Reminders (again), housekeeping and volunteers
Once again we need to wheel out the Lengthy Mod Post of Doom. Please try and read through it!
1) Technical queries
If you need help with posting something, and it's a technical query, like how to make a cut, or post pictures, please refer to the LJ support pages. We mods are fairly au fait with the basics, but, to be up front honest, haven't got the time to deal with those kinds of queries. The LJ support pages can be found from the top menu on your LJ home page, or from here. We will put a link in the side bar.
2) Page-A-Mod
If you want to ask about affiliation, have a problem with a troll, or another member, think your post got rejected unfairly, or have a non-technical query about this comm, please leave a comment in the page-a-mod post rather than pm-ing individual mods. This is because all the mods track that post, and thus you're likely to get a quicker answer. If you pm an individual, it may take longer to get an answer if they're away, or it's something that needs discussion amongst the whole mod team.
3) Graphics and fic posts
Just no.
We've issued several reminders, almost on a weekly basis since the rule changed. Graphics posts and fanfic should be posted in the relevant comms.
3a) Spin-off comms
On the subject of relevant comms, it has come to our attention that a few of the spin-off comms are now largely irrelevant, as they don't receive the volume of posting that was anticipated. As of June 27th, elevenvids , elevenmixes and elevencrafts will be put on hiatus and archived; elevenicons will also be archived, and icons will then be posted to elevengraphics as the one-stop graphics comm.
The comms will stay, in case they are needed in future, and to archive their content. But on June 27th, they will be put on modded posting so that stray entries can be diverted, and will be dropped from the affiliates list.
Until then, keep posting in them as normal. Vids, mixes, and crafts will be allowed back in this comm, as we don't get as many as anticipated. But fic and graphics are still high volume, so will need to still go to the relevant comms.
3b) Fanworks
There seems to be a small amount of confusion about what are deemed as 'fanworks', and thus where to post them. So, for clarification, fanworks are:
*Picspams are a bit more hazy, but rule of thumb: Official Picspam Friday is a community event. Other picspams are allowed if they're using the pictures to illustrate an aspect of the story arc, or character development, and encourage discussion of said aspect/character. Gorgeous, artistic picspams that beautifully illustrate quoted lines from an episode are deemed graphical, and belong in elevengraphics . Picspams of the cast from professional photoshoots, whether Who related or not, are allowed here, and at the mods' discretion, non-creeper tabloid shots.
4) All era Thursday
This is currently on hiatus until this series finishes, as there is so much to discuss in regards to what's happening now, so we'll keep that for the long dark months without fresh stuff to discuss. If you previously volunteered to host one, and were needing to do research/read/rewatch, please pm me and tell me again what your were wanting to do, and I'll work out a proper schedule.
5) Volunteers needed
A while back, we told you about newsateleven , which was going to be a daily round up of all things Eleventh Doctor era in one handy comm, so that you only need to watch the one on your flist. The comm is ready to go, we just need people to sign up as compilers. The sign-up post can be found here, and is also the place to ask questions, although hopefully most have been answered in that post. :)
