Argh, things to post about... piling up... But what else is new?
The current action item, for Seattlarians and others nearby, is this: The
Northwest Folklife Festival is this weekend at the Seattle Center. It's been going on all weekend, but
astridsdream and I just made it up today. There are street performers, bands and musicians of many stripes, tents and stalls hawking all kinds of things, a wonderful multitude of quirky people, and numerous chances to dance contra, swing, square, zydeco, balkan, or whatever boils your biscuits. If you can possibly get out to the Seattle Center tomorrow, I highly recommend it!
Issues I've tabled, so you can hold me to them later: a performance of a rewritten version of (playwright and mad scientist) Dashel Milligan's The Spinning, a play of his I performed in in 2002; (peace activist and volunteer) Steve Larson's visit and my subsequent meditations on life (beyond the one I posted), and, oh yeah, I never actually wrote about my trip to Yokohama.
Quote of the day:
(Doctor Who and a woman whose wedding was disrupted by paranormal events observe the birth of the solar system.)
The Doctor: That’s the sun, over there. Brand new. Just beginning to burn.
Donna: Where’s the Earth?
The Doctor: All around us. In the dust…
Donna: Puts the wedding in perspective. Lance was right, we’re just… tiny.
The Doctor: No, but that’s what you do, the human race! Make sense out of chaos, marking it out, with weddings and Christmas and calendars! This whole process is beautiful… but only if it’s being observed.
Donna: So I came out of all this...
The Doctor: Isn’t it brilliant?
