So I signed up for automatic bill pay tonight. Man, why didn't I do that forever ago? I mean, seriously, did I think that it would be more trouble than it was worth, or that it would cost money, or that I would catch a weird disease from it? I was clearly not thinking very clearly and obviously ignoring the obvious. Hmph.
Suddenly a whole bunch of things I've been worrying about separately are going to show up on one web page, and somebody else is going to lick the envelope for me. Man, that is going to help a lot. A lot.
The downside, of course, is that in anticipation of sending out a bunch of bills, I just bought a full book of stamps a few days ago. Guess it's time to start writing letters... Else postage will go up before I've used these up on the one physical bill I'll still be sending each month. (Automatic bill pay has an option to send to individuals, but how impersonal is that? "THIS IS AN AUTOMATICALLY GENERATED CHECK FROM YOUR PAL KELLY")
Otherwise doing pretty well. Went up to Bellingham on Saturday with
shardavarius. We stopped at the Krispy Kreme in Burlington because I was hungry and he had never been before (!), and man... yeah. Naturally, we got two dozen donuts.
(Okay, okay, they were to bring to people, but it was still pretty hilarious stopping to get donuts to eat and realizing that the right number to get was 4 to 6 times larger than I'd anticipated.)
lord_vantace's RPG was highly enjoyable, as ever. Stayed up too late chatting with him afterward, then took him to work early in the morning, came back, and slept several hours in his bed curled up with his cat. (His wife was notably absent.) So he definitely got the raw deal there.
Headed back around noon without shard, who assured me he had alternate transport arranged. How about it, Jer? Make it back home okay?
On the way home, I couldn't help but notice that my car needs a new blinker, a new headlight, an oil change, new tires, a new windshield, a new paint job...
Er, scratch that. I need a new car.
The old girl has held up well under my onslaught of inadequate care and repeated cross-country trips, but soon it will be time to put her out to pasture. Granted, the headlight, blinker, oil, and probably tires will still get replaced (the last as cheaply as possible), but for the rest it's time to just save up for the inevitable. It's amazing how well that car still runs, given its age and... condition.
A salute to my noble, nameless car. It's been a great ride.
Next weekend: Portland! Because going up to Bellingham every other weekend isn't punishing that car enough.
