this, that, and the other

I have a veritable potpourri of things to write about tonight, having been too damn lazy and busy over the past few days to get this stuff down.

I seem to be doing ok with the whole R. not living here anymore thing. It's definitely a big adjustment. The place is really, really empty without all his stuff and his cat. I need to get a new coffee table, among other things. Hopefully I'll be able to work that into the weekend somewhere. Maybe on Sunday before the Chargers game.

I've been doing quite a bit of administrivia for the club. Lots of people want information from me, most of it stuff that I don't really know. I need to do some serious research to find out how to get done a couple of things. I'm a little surprised that there isn't a better system of knowledge transfer in place but I suppose that's because we've changed officers quite a bit lately. Sigh. Still need to do and print out the agenda and mail it to the officers tomorrow night.

In other big news, the poo hit the fan at work today. Long story short, we discovered some irregularities in the way all of the blended models for the project from hell were trained. The upshot of this is that we need to re-spin the models, remove the old models from the deployment package, replace them with the new ones, and re-tweak whatever code we tweaked initially to make it all work. And we also need to do some substantial analysis to support the creation of a client deck. I am so deeply unhappy with these developments I can hardly see straight. I was soooooo over this project and had just started working on my next project. Asking my brain to turn around and go back to this one is kind of like asking a herd of cattle to stop stampeding. You can ask, but it probably won't happen.

In still other big, but not as big, news, I found a good sized snake skin that had been shed by the side of the trail. It looked fairly fresh. I'm guessing rattlesnake but I don't really know for sure. All I know is that one likely contributed to the death of a jogger last week, and my neighbors report having seen them all over the place lately. Rattlesnakes on my brain.

I was planning on going to bed a little early tonight, but once again I've managed to stay up longer than I meant to. Seems like there's just not enough time in the evening to get my chores and relaxation done. I'd love to have enough time to sit down and write something that was a little deeper than random stream-of-consciousness blathering. We'll see if I can make that come about somehow.

For now, good night.
