[And suddenly, without warning, a video appears! There's a certain clumsy plague doctor lurking about the library with another stack of books today! He's having a hard time balancing this heap of what appear to be botany based books. He even comes within inches of letting everything collapse, here and there. The journal itself is propped up against ( Read more... )

Copious amounts of pain and punishment were commonly applied to facilitate the point being driven home. Ah, magicians! Truly the best teachers the world over.

(Try to catch the sarcasm there. I applied it liberally.)

O-Oh my- e-eh, no. No, I appreciate the suggestion but I believe I would rather take the more peaceful route of trying to stir up an interest in the studies without stirring up a fear. The magicians of your world do not sound very pleasant, I have to say. I apologize if that offends you.

Offence? Hardly! You could repeat it ad nauseum without it every truly becoming nauseous.

Oh! Well good then. I'm guessing that you are not very fond of magicians? Did they wrong you in some way?

Hardly. I would say they've wronged me in every way, including some that even I could not concoct. Magicians are so after doing things to surprise me.

[And, unfortunately, they are remarkably good at it.

Oh, but the travesties are many! Magicians have: Summoned him to a pentacle; sealed him into jars; one had him watch over Old Zimbabwe as it turned to dust and jackals ate its people! (Boring and cruel; the job could have been done twice as fast if Jabor had been unleashed to eat the people. Jackal-headed djinni's the same as a jackal in his books.)]

Every way? That sounds rather horrible! Why would someone wish to do this? Do you have something a magician would want? A certain power or device?

Indeed I do. By merely existing, I am in possession of great power, wit, fashion sense, and general competence that they do so envy. They are petty and cruel because of it, making demands and inflicting punishments that are terribly undue.

Well then, I truly am sorry for such previous cruelty. Hopefully no magicians will arrive at this keep anytime soon, then. So far, so good I think. Great power? What do you mean?

There are magicians among us, I'm sorry to say. It was quite disappointing to realise that they basically pop out of the woodwork. Persistent creatures, for being mortal.

I mean exactly that: Great power.

Are you sure you should be gathering teaching techniques when your own education is lacking? The two words are quite simple when chained together.
