[Well well! Look who’s up and running, apparently in a hurry to get out of this place. Malkus Iverwellin’! In such a hurry that he’s completely left his journal behind. He doesn’t seem to be focusing on anything more than leaving this seemingly normal, though absolutely filthy, keep. Just look at this place! Webs and spiders skittering around like

Then he spots the mask. Which, of course, he thinks is a face. And doubles back and peers at him from just out of reach.*

Just incase, our doctor kicks his legs out almost as if trying to swim on land...

...you got bit, didn't you?

[The doctor lifts his head, seeming to glance from side to side before resting it back on the floor.]
I'm perfectly fine...
[He lifts his arm, slightly, the sticky web making a skriiitching noise as he does so. See? Fine. Aside from the fact that he should be lifting his left arm instead of his right arm but other than that-...Just fine!]

*He moves closer and carefully nudges Malkus with a shoe.*
Can you get up?

[Hey! He felt that foot nudge. After a small amount of time and effort, Malkus manages to shift his weight onto his side, half rolling over. He can finally see... your legs. He can see your legs, Sollux. They're the legs of a younger fellow.]
Careful, boy. There are spiders out and about...
[You know. Just incase you didn't already know.]

*With Mal on his side, Sollux can get a much better look at his beak.*
Yeah, I've run into a few. But most of them are gone now.
*He leans a little closer, peering at the mask.*
What are you?

[Hello there, young man. Malkus slowly turns his head up at Sollux, noticing the interesting dual colored pair of glasses on his face first.]
Me? Well I'm a doctor. Malkus Iverwelling! Pleasure to meet you...
[His eyes are still a bit hazey so he must squint to get a good look of the boy... Oh... Oh now that's too bad...
This young man is absolutely covered in what seems to be ash? Or dust? A sad sight, nontheless. His skin looks absolutely pale gray! Malkus doesn't seem to notice much else, he can hardly see Sollux due to spider webs blocking part of his mask lenses.]

*A doctor...*
No, I mean, what are you.

[What an odd thing to say. And what does he mean "What are you"? Malkus just-... Ooh. Oh right right.]

[That book back in the room? Was that meant for him?]
I don't have a journal. My apologies. I actually only have a bit of cloth and-...
[He glances around. Where could it have gone?]
A spoon... But no journal.

*Sollux grunts a bit and pulls his out. He flips it open to the lord's letter, sits down before Malk and holds the book out.*

I couldn't imagine why they'd give me a journal...
[He squints to read, softly mumbling a word to himself here and there.]
On-to-logical ca-ta-clysm... I don't quite understand. This... world seems just like it's always been. How can something not "exist" if we're currently... Well... existing?
Lord Deior, eh? ...Huh
[He has to admit that he finds some comfort in the word "refuge". It means he's not a prisoner. Well not in the way that he's been fearing.]

Because we're not there anymore.
*Duh.
He stands back up.*
That's all any of us know.
