Inspiration
Funny how tastes can change over the years, yet influences seem to stay the same for me. The artists, authors and producers I loved and respected since I got into music have always been the driving force behind my creative decisions.
I finally, eventually got round to buying and reading A Scanner Darkly and after 4 chapters it gave me some ideas for where to take my next sounds - slower maybe, harder and darker. It made me realise that I'm just one guy, and made me question just how many people Philip K Dick had inspired people, having been the genius behind so much creative work.
I'd previously been reading the infamous Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk, and although I enjoyed the book and respect the guy completely, it never gripped or inspired me the way so much of PKD's work has.
Finding things to feed my brain has started to become something of an obsession at the minute, but I suppose it can't ever be a bad thing.
