[Bernkastel simply appears, filling previously empty space as if she had been there all along. Of course, she had taken some time to explore the little complex the Doctor had been working on before she arrived in the main area.]

Indeed.

[Her sudden appearance surprises the Doctor little. The girl didn't seem to care for grand entrances. Bernkastel truly preferred to preserve her role as an observer, only interfering when it should be entertaining.]

A lair like this would let us prevent much of the same annoyances up until now. And, well... a fortress would be nice in time of war.

A convenient idea! If we had anyone aboard who had some expertise with technology, I'm sure we can set up a few television screens somewhere.

You know, an admirer set up cameras on birds to spy on my activities.

Technology was never a specialty of mine, but I can provide materials.

[She summons up a few small surveillance cameras, which appear on the table.]

I'm not sure the birds here would suit, in this case.

[The Doctor stands from his throne and examines the surveillance cameras that Bernkastel offered. He smiles at them and then at the witch.]

Then all we have to do is find the proper engineer among our ranks.

We have no use for birds not that I couldn't emulate his methods. But then, he's an odd one. I would prefer not to.

Of course not. The man wants to kill me! ... Not that I mind much of that if we at least had similar interests. I'm quite fine with allying myself with murderers and demons if we had similar interests.
