A random observation

Ok, so, a lot of people get annoyed at hearing people on cell phones. Sometimes understandably so. I've sat next to people in theaters who would answer their phone in the middle of a movie. Made me rather uncomfortable to be there with them. However, it extends beyond that. The Rutgers busses have signs in them asking passengers to wait until they are off the bus to make/take calls. Now, I used to agree with this sort of sentiment, but lately I've been finding myself kind of against the idea.

You see, today for example, on the way to my dorm, I sat in front of two loud obnoxious girls randomly jumping back and forth from english to some second language that they knew some phrases from. I hate half-assed attempts at learning languages, so this was rather irritating. Anyway, my point is this. If it had been one person on a cell phone, I would have only had to hear HALF of that stupid conversation. Instead, I was subjected to the full force of its fury. So as far as I'm concerned, if people want to talk on cell phones around me, go for it. It blocks some of the stupid for me.

Besides that, say you have someone sitting on the bus alone. He is bored. She, if you prefer, but I'm not going to do this "he/she" bull. He would be on his cell phone, but bus regulations don't allow for that. He has something incredibly stupid to say. Many stupid things to say, in fact. And sitting there, with none of his friends, and no one to call, the stupidity stews and boils and festers. He's going to have to do something about it. He needs to let it out. So who does he turn to? YOU! BUM BUM BUUUUUUUM!

Wouldn't you rather he just make a call and leave you alone, so all you have to do is put up with his lips flapping away over some ridiculous matter, instead of having to actively participate?
