Ah, so that's how...why didn't I find this sooner?

Oh. I hardly noticed the date. I never saw many people celebrating. It's a little strange how people seem to celebrate occasions like Mother's Day more than the Fourth of July, even though anybody who isn't an American wouldn't have much reason to.

Oh, well. Happy Fourth of July to anybody ( Read more... )

Soo... What's the Fourth of July? And American, for that matter. I've heard of neither in my own world. Is it from another country?

Oh! The United States of America is the country I come from. You wouldn't have heard of it yet--I bet anybody just finding the land is over a thousand years in the future. The Fourth of July is a holiday celebrating the establishment and independence of America, so there's a lot of national pride involved in it.

I keep forgetting so many of these things are far off in my future. Well, assuming they occur in my world at all given the differences.

Er.

Happy Fourth of July to you!

It's no problem. In my post alone I assumed everyone knew what the Fourth of July was, and with the diversity in Econtra that's definitely not the case! Assumptions make things easier when you think, even though they might not always hold true.

True, but don't worry about it.

Do you all do anything special to celebrate today?

Oh, there's barbecues, fireworks, music, parades--things of that sort. There isn't much time left for any of that, unfortunately. I've been so busy with work and reading that I didn't notice what day it was!

Oh, well. There's not as much point in celebrating if you're not in America to celebrate are we?.

I don't know. There's always time for a party, I think, even if it's a late one.

You think so? But I'd need to find people to go, too. A one-man party doesn't sound like it'd be much fun.

I'll go!

Two's company! I can't think of anyone else here besides myself off the top of my head who might want to attend aside from you, though--nobody American, at least.

I don't mind if it's just us. I attended that big party the other night so something more quiet is welcome.

All right, then. How about we do this in the park? There won't be fireworks, but fresh air is always something to appreciate.

I would love to! Anything I should bring?

I'm going by the kitchen first on my way there and getting a few snacks, so if anyone gets hungry that's not a problem...any favorite games or other methods of entertainment?

Ahm... I can bring my kite? I'm willing to requisition a Tavli board and a discus if we need something else, though.

No, that's fine. I'm not sure how long requisitions will take to arrive. Though if I may ask, what's a Tavli board?
