How do you handle disappointment?

Not very well, I'm afraid. Especially if I've made a bad judgment of character. I pride myself in being able to understand and relate to people, you see. All manner of people. I am a Time Lord, after all. I do manage to get around a bit, so you'll understand that I've had some modicum of experience. But sometimes . . . well, even I get it wrong. Like trusting in an official or a king who ultimately helps the Daleks or the Ice Warriors or Sontarans because of some misbegotten belief that two wrongs make a right. Or that siding with a homicidal race will ultimately liberate their own. In all my experience I've never known that to be true but no one seems to want to listen any more. Oh no! I've only seen history repeat itself more times than I can count. But don't take the Doctor's word for it! Perish the thought!

Still, that isn't nearly as bad as when I misjudge a person who was trying to do the right thing but going about it the wrong way. Like failing to let anyone else in on the fact until it was entirely too late.

There's nothing more disappointing than ignorance. Especially when it's my own.
