For the Doctor-Rose Fixathon. Prompt: Ten/Rose or Nine/Rose + the swimming pool in the library.
I don't own Doctor Who.
Note: The title is the scribble-title referred to in the story.

“What’re you reading?”
“Hm? Oh, noffin’ really.”
“What is it?” He repeated, plopping down next to her and grabbing the book out of her hands.
“Well, I don’t really know.” She said with a laugh, grinning up at him.
He shook his head at her and flipped through the book.
“It’s a space exploration guide,” He told her.
“Well, yeah. I got that bit, but there’s no title. Just this funny sort of scribble.” She said, tapping the spine of the book.
“Tha’ is the title.” He said, waving the book at her. “It works in place of one anyway. It’s an input book. The words are only there in case something happens to your ship’s computer, but usually you just scan this,” he pointed at the scribble, “and your ship pulls up the whole book. It’ll then tap into your SPS- Spatial Positioning System, like a GPS- or use voice command to figure out where you want to go and give you helpful excerpts from the book.”
“Huh.” She muttered. She moved to take the book from him, but he threw it behind him. It slid across the floor to land at the edge of the pool.
“It’s rubbish anyway,” He said, “it’s from the 73rd century, written by this supposedly great space explorer, but the book is chock full of errors.”
“You done with ship repairs yet?” She asked.
“Yeah, but it still needs to sit in the vortex for a bit.” He said, getting up off the couch and pulling Rose to her feet. “How about I find you a better book, and you can tell me where you want to go when the TARDIS is ready?”
“Okay,” Rose said, following him to one of the shelves just past the swimming pool.
“Just nothing stupid, ‘kay?” He said, bumping her shoulder.
“Yeah, yeah.” Rose retorted, giving him a playful shove.
He staggered to the left a little, sticking one foot out to keep better balance.
“Whoa!”
Rose turned to see the Doctor fall rather ungracefully into the pool, the 73rd century space book he’d slipped on sliding into the side of her foot.
“Are you alright?” She asked as his head broke the surface. She gave a chuckle at the sight of him- he was dog paddling in place to keep his head above the surface, his leather jacket weighing him down, and there was water dripping from his ears, nose, and the little hair he had.
“No thanks to you.”
She laughed again, earning her an even bigger glare.
“Hey, you threw the book.” She said, holding her hands up in defense.
“Yeah, yeah.” He said, mimicking her reply from earlier as he pulled himself out of the water. When one knee rested on the edge of the pool, he held a hand out for assistance.
Rose grabbed his hand and began to pull him up, but with a triumphant , “HA,” the Doctor flopped back into the water, pulling a shrieking Rose with him.
Her startled yelp was cut short as she submerged below the surface of the water.
Rose broke the surface a second later, spitting out the water that had filled her mouth in the Doctor’s direction as she blinked the water out of her eyes.
The malevolent glee in his expression mirrored that of her little cousin after their rather unpleasant aunt slipped on a puddle of water and went down with the dishes she was carrying.
“What are you, five?” She asked, splashing water in his direction.
“You pushed me first.”
“I didn’t mean to push you into the pool! And-” She shot back, paddling extra hard with her legs so she could pull out her cell phone. “-you’ve ruined my mobile.”
He plucked the device out of her hand and tossed it onto dry land.
“I can fix that,” he said, “but you have ruined my sonic screwdriver.”
“…Really?” She said, a look of worry crossing her face. She had to admit, it was rather useful, and she wasn’t sure how easy it was to replace.
“Nah, it’s waterproof.” He said, grinning cheekily at her.
She splashed him again.
“DOC? RO-OSE? WHERE ARE YOU GUYS?”
The Doctor turned towards the door at the sound of Jack’s voice then gulped in a lungful of air and sunk under the water.
“Hey Rose,” Jack said in greeting as he entered the library. “I’ve been looking all over for you. Have you seen the Doctor?”
“Um… No.” She lied, silently noting that he’d been underwater for at least 30 seconds now.
He stared at her for a moment, taking in the fact that she was swimming with all of her clothes on. His eyes moved to the mobile at his feet before he looked back at her.
“Uh, What’re you doing?” He asked.
“Swimming.” She replied nonchalantly. 40 seconds. She was getting worried.
Jack moved to the edge of the pool and crouched down next to it, raising an eye at Rose.
“So… You’re having a swim, in all of your clothes, right before bed?”
“..Yeah.”
At that moment, the Doctor rocketed out of the water. Grabbing Jack around the shoulders, he pulled him in too.
Jack broke the surface of the water, and the next thing Rose knew, his shirt was off and lying next to her phone. He tossed his Vortex Manipulator next to it.
“That thing waterproof?” She asked.
“Of course.”
She turned to the Doctor.
“How the hell’d you stay under that long?”
He patted his chest. “Superior time lord biology,” He said, “I’m no stupid ape.”
“Ri-ight.”
“I like these late ‘night’ swims,” Jack said, his bare arms resting on the edge of the pool as he tried to maintain a comfortable position. “How’d you end up in the pool, anyway? It doesn’t look like it was on purpose.”
“The Doctor slipped then pulled me in.” Rose said.
“Oi! You pushed me!” The Doctor retorted, before realizing that didn’t make him sound any manlier.
“How about we go to an alien beach next?”
“As my lady commands.” The Doctor said, failing in a mock bow due to the fact that he was dog-paddling.
“Do you have any beach books to choose from?” Rose asked, and the Doctor pointed out an area. “Thanks, I’m going to read it, try not to slip on it, okay?”
“Yeah, yeah.”
