I'm an ass now.

Seriously, check me out.

Fucking maturity.

Well I'm back. I'm typing on my computer. This is indeed a welcome change. During the first week of the month, I checked it in to COMP USA to get the wireless card looked at. I had begun the process of checking it in when I got the call that said I needed to rush home as soon as possible for my Dad had suffered a heart attack.

Though I'm sure all of Catonsville knows about it (most likely at the hands of above photo doctorer since he told two of my closest friends before I did), my dad complained of a tightness in his chest on Sunday afternoon. The paramedics arrived soon after and he was taken to St. Agnes Hospital, which was a miracle in and of itself since the paramedics were not too familiar with where that was. He was stable all throughout the ambulance ride, but crashed just as he arrived at the ER. They immediately wheeled him into the resuscitation room and went to work on him with everything they had, even the paddles. After about ten minutes, they got his heart beating again at 70. This was the information relayed to us by Cathy when we arrived. There was almost more of an emphasis on "he died, we lost him" than "he's gonna be OK." But we did get to see him and he was conscious. From there, he was taken to the cardiac unit at St. Joseph's hospital. He stayed overnight for two days there in the ICU, and then he was released two days later. Though he had a medical checkup not too long before this incident, apparently they showed no sign of any problem gathering. My dad really isn't that bad of a terrible eater, and I would have assumed barring some bad lungs from smoking and asbestos, I would be in worse shape nutritionally. But he had a 99% blockage in one artery, and 75% in the other. How fitting. Typing all of this is giving me indigestion. Excuse me. Go go Gadget calcium. To sum all this up, Dad now has both arteries taken care of and is taking a nice supply of medication. His leg is bruised up a little bad from the last operation but that should heal shortly and he has quit smoking as result. He'll probably know next week if he's going to retire early or keep working until he wants to.

COMP USA told me that my laptop was being shipped out to the manufacturer for repair and that it would take 14-16 business days. That's a long time to be without a computer. It was really strange not to have it around, let alone not being able to check e-mail or pay bills. I even had to resort to using library internet a few times. But it has returned at last. I only wanted them to replace the wireless card, but it ended up with a brand new motherboard so it's really like I have a brand new computer.

There's been some bad calls at work too but I won't go into that now. Just checking in.
