It's Meme Against the World

Hello people!

Snurtched from

not_last_resort.

1. How about a brief introduction?
Hiya. I'm Miranda (Mira/Doc/Kat *meow*). I'm 17, going on 18 (whoo!) and am FINALLY a Senior in high school. I've been writing since I was seven or eight years old, but I only started writing fanfics about three or four years ago.

2. What got you into fanfiction (and/or adopting muses)?
The TV show 24. It was my first obsession and I wrote two or three fanfics of it, as well as a 24/House crossover fic. I didn't find out about fanfiction until I joined the FOX 24-um (get it? twenty-four-um, like forum?...haha).

3. What kind of fanfiction do you write?
Uh...fluff? Angst, fluff, crack. Whatever I feel like writing. It's pretty much always got a pairing (usually a gay one, lol), and I usually get hooked on a certain pairing/series for a while. Like, I was hooked on SPN (Sam/Dean) for a very long time, now I'm hooked on TDS/TCR (Jon/Stephen). That doesn't mean I stop liking the other pairings/series, I just read/write less of them, atm.

4. What is your most popular fic, and why do you think people like it so?
Well, there's a fic on the FOX House forums, "A Romantic Weekend in the Poconos," based on the line House said to Wilson, and you guessed it, it's a House/Wilson fic. I won an award for that one (though I was nominated for a couple other fics, they just didn't win awards). But I never even finished that fic (which I will probably always feel guilty for, lol), and I think my favorite that I've also gotten a hell of a lot of reviews for is "Always, Underneath the Mistletoe." It's a Christmas House/Cameron fic. I think it's one of my best works in the House category. Oh, I really like "Amnesia," too. Okay, I promise, I'm done with all the self-plugging, lol. Oh, and I think people liked my stories cuz...well, I have no idea, I'm just glad they liked them. XD

5. Forget other people, what is the fanfic/post/prompt you've written that you're most proud of?
That I'm most proud of...well, the above listed, I'm very proud of. Um...oh, I spent a long time writing this Jurassic Park fic, and I'm *so* proud of it, but there's really not a place to post it. I mean, I found one fan community here and it's almost never updated. *sad* I'm also *insanely* proud of " Step into Christmas," which is a Jon/Stephen fic. Mostly because the person whose approval I feel I need said it was great, so, yeah, that sent me over the moon.

6. Do you find writing easy? Hard? What aspects do you struggle with?
Both. It really depends what kind of mood I'm in. A lot of the time, I'm in the mood where I desperately wanna write something, but nothing comes to mind. Everything seems like such a challenge and feels overwhelming, which is ridiculous, considering the fact that they're MY stories and I can make them as short or simple as I want, but, ya know. That's just my crazy self. I do have a hard time with "show, don't tell." I've always hated that phrase. It makes me want to kill people, seriously. I don't get how you can "show, not tell" in a STORY with WORDS. Words=telling.

7. Do you write for the same pairings/characters?
I typically write the same two major pairings, yes: Jon/Stephen and Sam/Dean. Though I dabble in Chuck/Geoffrey, Bones/Booth, Grant/Malcolm, Frank/Dwayne, even Walsh/The Duke (check my profile for the series these pairings go with). I used to write House/Cam and House/Wilson all the time, but I've somewhat lost my interest in those fics.

8. Write a few sentences of your favorite pairing or character.
Um...well, my favorite is Jon/Stephen (of course). It's based on this...kink, I guess you could call it, but I don't think that's the right word, exactly...about really close men. Like, two men that are so close, they could be brothers. And Jon and Stephen have that unbelievably strong relationship (which Stephen seems to have with a lot of people, lol). And I love the way they interact with each other. They're just perfect together. <3

9. Are there any fanfiction trends/cliches you hated?
Not really, no. I don't think I've been writing it long enough to have passed through a fad, yet. I never write original characters (my stories aren't long enough for them...except for "Always, Underneath the Mistletoe," that had a Mary Sue in it), and that's really the only thing I've seen. Oh! No, as of late, people have been doing a lot of BDSM and Dom/Sub fics (at least, in fakenews_fanfic, I think). I don't mind mild Dom/Sub or BDSM, but strong stuff irks me.

10. Are you guilty of any of the trends you hate?
I don't write BDSM or Dom/Sub fics...and I wrote one Mary Sue, though I really don't see a problem with that. So, no?

11. What was the first fandom you wrote for? Do you still write for it?
24, of course. No, but I like my fanfics from then, because they didn't have a pairing. It was all about the action of the show - taking out terrorists, interrogation, espionage and government work. I loved it. Not to say I don't love the ones I have now, they're just...different. Non-comparable. But no, I don't write 24 fanfics anymore.

12. Name your OTPs and explain what is it about them you love to write.
Okay, I've got a ton of OTPs, most of which can be found in my profile in a neat, little list, lol, but I'll pick out my top two:
[1] Jon/Stephen. As I said earlier, they have the best chemistry and interact so well with each other and they're so close. That melts me, lol. I love seeing them together (the Emmys, the tosses). They're the best. <3
[2] Sam/Dean. I know, I know, they're brothers. But it's the deep love they have for each other that makes me ship them. They're two unbelievably different people, and they're both quite stubborn, but they love each other so much that they would (and have) die(d) for each other.

13. What would you call your writing style?
I try to do both character and plot driven writing. Michael Crichton, one of my personal heroes, focuses on plot, while, say, AJ Butcher (who wrote the Spy High books <3) focuses more on character development. I like to have really cool characters that are relatable in certain ways, but totally out there in other ways (you'll see what I mean when I get "Attorney at Law" [my first novel] written and published). And the plot has to kick ass and hold your attention.

14. Do you read other people's writing? If so, what do you find yourself reading the most?
Of course! I really love sweet and hot fics of either Jon/Stephen or Sam/Dean, though more recently, definitely a bit more Jon/Stephen. "30 Little Things," a fic I requested and celli_puzzle is currently writing (cuz she's BITCHIN) is one of my all-time favorites. SailorPtah's Harvey Birdman/TDS/TCR/pretty much everything else Jon and Stephen have ever been in crossover fic was definitely, easily one of the best fics I've ever read. It's so wonderful (and in my memories if you wanna read it). Let's see...what else...well, I could never list everything, but I really love reading other people's work, especially when I feel they've captured the characters really well. <3

15. Name one thing you'd love to write but have been too afraid or shy to do.
I'd love to write a smutty fic that's more than just a one-shot, but I just can't. I really can't write smut, cuz I can't go back and analyze sex. It's just so awkward for me, lol.

16. Do you feel uncomfortable taking criticism? Or worse, do you have the dreaded bloated ego?
I don't think I have a big ego, really, I like myself, but I know a good amount of what I write is shit, lol. But no, I hate criticism. I have the problem where I take it personally, which I know is bad and I know I shouldn't, but I can't help it. Every remark against my work feels like a remark against me and it just upsets me. I wish I wasn't like that, lol.

17. When you write, is there anything that helps?
Music and the men I love...Tyrone is pretty helpful, too, lol. <3

18. What inspires you?
Any amusing or insightful quote or a line from a song can inspire me at any time, really.

19. Lastly, how would you sum up your fanfiction/RP experiences and you as a writer?
Awesome? Yeah, pretty cool. I love writing and posting my fics and I'll prolly always do it.

Love y'all - Mira/Doc/Kat *meow*
