Hello people!
Got up at 7:30, I think.
I felt mostly better, so I was pretty happy about that. I got ready for school and then dad took me and dropped me off around 9:00. I went up to the computer lab to sign up for my classes, cuz I was sposed to do that two days ago and couldn't access the network from home to do it online. I needed help, cuz the way they categorize classes at school is RIDICULOUS.
So, this wonderful woman offered to assist me. She was absolutely fantastic and the most helpful person I've ever come across there. She told me all about the profs who taught prospective classes, which classes were rather difficult and which weren't too bad, what she thought would be best for me according to what I wanted to do in the future. She even told me that she loves the French Revolution!
Seriously, I love this woman, LOL! Unfortunately, I don't think she ever told me her name and she sorta got up and left me to finish my schedule on my own before I could give her my card or anything (she was called away by another prof who needed her help somewhere else in the building). *sigh* But she was great and I hope I run into her again, at some point.
Anywho, there are a TON of classes I want to take, but my electives are all fucked up and full cuz of classes that have transferred, so I have to watch what I sign up for. But for the Fall semester, I signed up for The United States Since 1877 (required), Hitler and the Rise and Fall of Nazi Germany, Physical Anthropology (required), American Lit and Tai Chi (required, but I'm looking forward to it).
I stayed there in the computer lab and fiddled with the flier for the Young Writers Showcase. That was a waste of half an hour. This guy sat next to me and said he liked my tattoo. We talked about tats cuz he had 'em, too, and I added him on Facebook while I was there. I went down to the cafeteria and read my book til 10:45, when I started making my way to class. It sucked climbing those stairs.
Class started at 11:00 and the prof was pretty understanding about me being sick, which I was grateful for. Unfortunately, I missed notes on trauma and types of fractures. :( But today, we practiced ageing and sexing on casts of real human skulls. It was AMAZING. Tragic, for the ways people died, but so fascinating. And exciting, since this is legit shit, LOL. I can use this stuff in writing! :D
I took the bus home today, which was miserable, as I was still feeling sick, but I read Rising Sun the whole time, so that was awesome. It's such a great book thus far, and I'm only about 150 pages in. Good stuff. When I got home, I got the mail and found this:
I sent a Jim Brown book to my second favorite author, the man himself, hoping he'd autograph it. He and I are Twitter friends and he agreed to sign it for me. He signed that! And sent me a nice little letter thanking me for all the support! :3 He's so damn sweet. <3 It made me pretty happy, lol. I did a couple chores and then watched House in my room. I found out that they already did an ep with a porn star!
BLARGH! So I decided that the ep I'm gonna write with Steven Weber will have him as a Hugh Hefner, porn king type, instead of an actual porn star. Then, it's not a repeat, but it allows for the same sort of situations. Anywho, I went through the classes I still want to take for future semesters and found out that three of them - ones I REALLY wanted to take - were cut this year, I imagine due to funding. :'(
I am deeply saddened by this. I firmly believe that college is about learning new things or learning more about things you find interesting, NOT about rushing through pre-reqs to get a degree so you can get a job as soon as possible. I want to fucking learn! There are things I want to be taught, such as religious history, TV studio production, etc. I'm just frustrated and feel sorta let down.
Um, teh rents came home and asked me to go to the store for a few things we needed for dinner. I did, and picked up a few things I wanted, too. When I got home, I joined teh rents in the living room to watch our shows. We watched Breaking In, which was just as amusing as the first ep. Title of this post is from it. One of the guys wired the fax machine to have thoughts, and it said that. *points to title*
Then we watched Bones from two weeks ago. I took a shower and now, we're all going to bed.
Love y'all - Mira/Doc/Kat *meow*
