Books Are Not Important

Sep 20, 2008 19:20

Hello people!

Guh. I got up at 7:30 today. I didn't get to get online right away, which saddened me, LOL. *shrugs* I got dressed in a few minutes and helped pack up the car and then we were off. It took an hour and a half to get there (suckish). We stopped for some breakfast from Burger King. We got to the show at about...10:00-ish, methinks. The only positive was that they were playing some very good music (Foreigner, Little River Band, etc.).

We left at 1:00 and went to OLIVE GARDEN! :D Got the usual; salad, chicken fingers, breadsticks and iced tea. We also ordered the "tour of Italy", which was chicken parmesan, lasagna, and fettucino alfredo, I believe. It was good! We skipped desert and, instead, went to Barnes & Noble, where we got COFFEE. I ended up getting two frappucinos (I'm usually not allowed more than one, lol) and gah, they were good.

Mom and I chilled and read books, of course, for a couple hours. We found this book called, "DUH!" which is about stupid people doing stupid things (mostly involving hurting/killing themselves). It's rather frightening, actually. Some of them are funny (like people saying stupid things), but most of it just scares me. This is gonna sound stupid, but it eventually made me cry. The excess of stupid people makes me ashamed to be a human.

*ahem* I didn't get anything, which bummed me out; I hate leaving the book store empty-handed. *shrugs* Oh, well. So, yeah, then we came home and watched The Mummy and then Mr. Bean's Holiday, which we bought two days ago. It's pretty funny! :D I'm glad we bought it.

Okay, Dad works at the Library Guild thingy where he sells books to school libraries all over the country. He said that a co-worker got off the phone today and said, "OMG, I never thought I would ever hear what I just heard." So, dad said, "What?" and she replied that she just got off the phone with a school whose superintendent said, "Books are not important." :O I cried a little when dad relayed that to us. I can't believe someone would say that. And, AND, they said that there will be no budget for books in their school (this is in California).

There's an in-depth story in the latest TIME mag about the political ads between Obama and McCain and how true or false they are. It's amahzing. I'm so glad they did it. So helpful! You guys should check it out. I would think it's prolly available on the site, if you go there, though I'm not positive. But yeah, read it.

Thanks to you awesome people, I've been lead to a Rocky Horror live performance in Toledo. It's kinda far away, but I think mom and I are gonna go! I'm STOKED. I can't wait, lol! It'll prolly be a little awkward with mom (kay, a LOT awkward), but I'm still thrilled as Hell, lol! And it's on Halloween night! :D

I now have EVEN MORE Jon and Stephen to watch, and I feel like such a bad fangirl for being so behind. *headdesk* MUST CATCH UP! But, YAYZ, the Emmys are tomorrow! Jon and Stephen presenting together FTMFW! I'm so excited to see what they do. They won't kiss, I know, but I can damn well imagine them doing so. ;]

Love y'all - Mira/Doc/Kat *meow*
