So, there's a hospital in Red Bud IL that sees 4800 patients a year (for reference, the quietest hospital I've ever worked at saw 18,000 a year). It employs three physicians, and is looking for a fourth.
There are days when that sounds appealing. Relaxing, even.

So. No news on the Job I Want front; followup inquiries are met with "It's in the hands of HR now", although the admin allows that it's been a while, even for people as relentlessly indolent as HR, and she may have to discuss updating the candidates with something, lest they all bail out. Still waiting.
Spent a lovely weekend on Martha's Vineyard, including some work in the Fast Track segment. Lovely, lovely place, really. M, K, and I had a marvelous, incredibly beautiful bike around the interior of the island, and a trip to Gay Head cliffs, followed by a day spent on 4th of July activities (picnic on the lawn, and fireworks on the waterfront). It's out of my price range and out of my comfort zone in terms of location, but if I can keep a hand in it will hopefully keep being a place where I can spend some quality time and make some money into the bargain. Lots of fun, definitely recommended for a visit.
Somerville Hospital...will be the subject of another post. Nothing bad about the medicine practiced there, but it needs its own post, really.
Home life is good, because I have marvelous partners. No offers on the condo yet, although we've reduced the price a bit. We've been sort of haphazardly looking at rentals (current plan: sell, rent for a year, find a new place at the end of the rental term, modulo winning the lottery and buying something Really Nice outright. Plan A is probably the winner there).
